Hello everyone. First off, thanks to many of you for your patience in answering all my questions and tolerating my pestiness. I am so thrilled to be able to join the Speedy club, with what I think is very good example from 1974. I purchased from forum member "knappo1307" and the transaction went beautifully. He was great to work with and I very grateful to him.
(A question. My friend here at work brought in his watch tester, and the amplitude is low and shows some noise. Should I have the watch serviced at this point, or wait until it starts to lose accuracy. As it is now, it is very accurate, +2 or so.)

Here are some pictures, please excuse the quality. I am so in love with this watch. Thanks again to the forum for offering such a great online community. IMG_20140812_161201061.jpg IMG_20140812_161045433.jpg

I strongly suggest you ignore any results from a timeographer in favour of a skilled watchmaker's opinion.

Well on that note, when I brought it last week to my watchmaker (Swiss Watchmaker here in Cambridge, Mass) to change the band, I asked him to open it up to get me the serial number, etc. and he said it looked excellent inside, very clean, and thought it an excellent example.

    Congrats!
    You finaly got it
As others said here before, accuracy is not necessarily a sign to say if a watch needs to be serviced or not.
If you don't know service history you should at least take it to a WM to have a look.

EDIT Didn't saw your last post while writting

A low amplitude, together with a noisy plot indicates that a service is due. this is the humble opinion of an old Omega watchmaker. ;)

Great find. Knappo1307 is a solid seller. +2 seconds a day after 40 years doesn't sound too bad.

Any other folks have thoughts on whether to get it serviced now or not?

Haven't you already shown the actual watch to an actual watchmaker you trust and he said it was fine???

Yes, but this was only based on looking it up, not running it on a timegrapher, which I did with a friend later.

That second hand is wrong for the year..hopefully it was mentioned in the listing. Hope you are enjoying the watch otherwise.

Peter, the band looks great!! As far as the chronograph hand, I'm not sure. On Ofrei it is a perfectly acceptable hand. It may have been a service replacement. Here's the link to Ofrei for the hand: http://www.ofrei.com/omega-watch-hands-caliber-321-861.html
Enjoy the watch in good health. Thank you tpatta for your kind words...
