hi all, I dont post on here much but was looking for Parcel Pro claims experience. I shipped a 1675 full set about 10 weeks ago via Parcel Pro/Fedex. I insured the watch but it was stolen. It was overnight shipping and the buyer received a box with no watch inside but only a torn outer Rolex box, the watch box with tag and papers. I filed a claim immediately and it has been over 10 weeks and I am in the appeal process as the claim was denied. The reason? They are saying I did not use a "new" fedex box. I used a large fedex box, packed the watch inside of a medium box that went into large box. taped over the fedex seals with clear tape. The large box was not "used" and they have been giving me the run around to where I now have to get my attorney involved. Just thought I'd share as it has been a nightmare and I have been using Parcel pro for a while.

Yikes, please keep us posted. I try to read the fine print (double boxing, etc., but I admit I don't always use a "new" outer box. How exactly does PP determine if a box is "new" or not? I'd never used a compromised box, but this sounds really really lame.

This thread illustrates yet another reason I'm glad I'm not as active in this hobby anymore.

Oh wow, i am sorry to hear that. I hope it will end up well for you. What do you guys mean by "new" , like never used ? Meanin you reuse the boxes ? I do not use fedex boxes at all, just big, thick carton boxes and a patented plastic, security box (which can't be opened without breaking the seals) as the inner box

I learned the hard way, and now I only have the FedEx downtown pack and ship my watches, or have the UPS Store (where I keep a box) pack and ship. So I have their guarantee that it was packed to their standards. It also provides proof of chain of custody, as I take a photo of the watch at their location and film them packing it up.

That is a very valuable piece of advice. Thanks for sharing it.

hope you will be refunded. my question though, in case you undervalued, will
fedex/parcel pro reimburse up to the selling price?

They have no issues filming them?

I had a watch stolen in transit around Christmas last year ($XX,XXX just to put it in perspective) and it wasn't insured because in my mind, nothing ever happened and it was silly (and complicated) to pay the high value insurance amounts through carriers. Really wish I'd known about Parcel Pro prior to that. Signed up for an account the next day and it's fantastic. You're in good hands.
Rob - how did you get an account as an individual? When I tried, they said a federal tax ID is required...and not an SSN. Did you set up an LLC?

Only one time, so the guy let me step in and take of photo of each step with him out of the picture.

I wonder if it said anywhere on the box what the contents were? Overnight shipping needs to move very quickly and scanned frequently. I think PP’s argument is that they can’t tell if the package was tampered with since you used an old box that was already retaped. Sure, an employee could be opening and resealing packages (especially if they are at the X-ray machine) but they’re on camera and need to do it quickly. I hope you get some resolution and report the serial number stolen.

Yes. No advice needed. They will refund you.

Moral lesson - Loss happens, insure your packages

A good ending to a worrying situation. I know just how you were feeling.
Not quite the same situation but I had a large dealer mislay my 1675 GMT. (1972)
They contacted me to say it was ready from service, I trot into the city to pick it up and they can't find it !
This went on for weeks, they practically stopped talking to me.
Two months later I get a phone call , please pick it up.
Apparently they had delivered it to the wrong branch and it just sat in their safe.
No aplogies, just pay the bill., needless to say they are no longer the AD.

In 2010 I was shipping a Rolex 1680 to LAWW for service. Shipped USPS Express Insured. The watch was worth $5000 back then. It was head only. USPS lost/stole it at the LA processing facility. USPS told me to pound sand and wouldn't pay out. Lawyer said it would cost $5k to fight the government.

Lesson learned, Parcel Pro member since.

What was their excuse? You paid insurance and the package was never delivered. How do they get around that? I can see them arguing the value of collectible watches but I can’t seem them not paying anything.

Even though I had a paypal receipt where I bought it from a reputable dealer etc, they said I could not prove it was in the box. Stonewalled at every turn.

USPS thinks someone is getting rich sending insured empty boxes around and waiting for them to get lost?
