It seems like Omega has a thing for it on many of their recent & current offerings for sure. And while initially I didn't like it one bit, like marriage ~ where you take the good with the not so good ~ I've grown to either "sorta like it" or at minimum turn a semi-blind eye to it and tolerate it. But, I always do wonder...

So two questions really-

1. Do you like it or no, and why?

2. Has anyone here ever enlisted a watchmaker to remove it and relume with white/off-white or a more "natural" tone?

Doesn't really bother me, it's just a design choice. As long as it's attractive. I think it bothers the vintage crowd the most since they put such a premium on age and how a dial and its lume changes over the years.

It's a nice design choice. It works really well for the 60th Anniversary Speedmaster and the NTTD.

I am unbiased, prefer take things case by case to like or not. I like Railmaster's beautiful salmon markers for example.

I like it. Perhaps not to the extent of the Longines Heritage watch which had purposeful dial spots applied, but on lume and maybe a off-white/black or even brown dial is completely fine with me. It's an aesthetic choice and considering modern lume doesn't age like Tritium or Radium, it's another plus for me.

I like it. Isn’t the whole appeal of lume patina the nice color it takes on? While fauxtina won’t quite get the same look and charm it still looks pretty good in my opinion and has the benefit of modern lume. Also, as was already pointed out, modern lume won’t age like previous materials so need to intentionally choose an aesthetically appealing color from the start.

I like it. They have been doing it for years…each decade roughly has a different ‘design choice’. Toffee 80/90s … minty-green 70/80s … creamy 60/70s … etc. (edit: at least with speedmasters…other watch designs, other design choices!)

Kind of going back to your analogy about marriage, I think that Fauxtina is like make-up, it has to be subtle and shouldn't grab your attention when you look at the face (of the watch). Personally I prefer a creamy white color on most modern watches.

Fauxtina has saved me a ton of money. There have been so many new offerings the past few years that were so interesting, except for…

I blame all the Speedmaster fanboys with their “tritanium” talk for years…

Do think it looks good on some and not on others.
They knocked it out of the park on the Speedy Tuesday 2
