I saw this UG triple date moonphase on eBay probably far too late on a Saturday night!! It was love at first sight, so bid and won. Now in the sober light of an English March morning, it just looks too clean for a 60 plus year old watch. So it was either an expensive mistake or a great find! . All opinions gratefully received. Thanks AGS100
I'm not as knoleglable as other on this forum, but the accent on Genėve looks wrong, so it is a redial to me. Also the back should not be brushed.
i believe it to be a redial, but nicely done, aesthetically i think the watch is quite pleaseing, if i bourght i would wear it
It is a nice one ... but a redial. a pretty attractive redial at that. if you are happy with it why not just enjoy it! What was it up for ?
Thanks for all your comments...I paid £1,850 for the watch. Not sure if that was reasonable, but just had to have it! My first UG, more to come I feel!
Yes, it is a redial. Also, the crown appears to be later than the watch, and the buckle later still. If it is otherwise original, though, and all the date and moon phase functions work, it is still a beautiful 18k UG that you can wear and enjoy, and that is probably worth at least what you paid.
Yes, in french it's Genève and not Genéve. Anyway there's a debate in french weather a accent should be written on a capital letter or not. let's say it's admitted by "l'académie française" that decides of the official changings in language (so french...) That's a shame because otherwise the redial is really stunning.
Strange how a second look always reveals something new ... The second counter does seem well off centre and I would say month ring is a tad too large as it interferes with second and day of month ring. This is not so on the original dial.
My UG arrived yesterday, hot foot from Poland. "Her indoors" (aka "my better half" for the benefit of non-Brits!) has insisted that it's just for special occasions. I sense an expensive dinner required....but there again she did pay for it! So back to the Tag 2000 Professional today. One question....does the month marker click over month by month or gradually sweep round? Day and date changed overnight but not the month. Month marker clicks on when the side button is depressed Once again thanks for all your input...seems I have much to learn. AGS100
I think one clue of how the real original dial should have looked, with patina, is by looking at the date rotating circle thingie. As you can see it is nowhere near as white as the dial. That right there is probably a genuine component with patina on it.
Month by month, like the date ot the day. Ok it's a redial but honestly, it's a great watch ! Sometimes, with patience, you will find an original dial if you want to be very strict... congratulation ! BTW, the back was brushed.
