·Hi please could i have an expert opinion, this watch was passed down to me from my late farther who cherished it and was under the impression its the real McCoy but im not convinced, many thanks for any clarity

·Don’t take it personal. This forum gets inundated daily with requests to verify family heirlooms, barn finds, rummage sale watches etc. Many of these inquiries are flybys to be never heard from again. This place is a treasure trove of knowledge and a great resources for anyone interested in horology.

·There's quite a few things on that which look suspicious to me, but I'm not sure I see enough to know yet.
The dial style (open, printed 9/6, white 600m/2000ft) is from a 1st generation/2500 based Plant Ocean. But as far as I can tell, that didn't come in blue? The bezel style isn't really from that generation either, but as others have said, perahaps a replacement.
The bezel scalloping is wrong too, it should have a coin edge? But perhaps it was replaced at the same time?
The date being black on a blue dial is something I don't think I've seen Omega do before.
The clasp printing (particularly the O in Planet Ocean) doesn't look right either.
I'd have to see inside the caseback and the movement itself (it should be a twist off!), but it at minimum has been modified in the past I think.

In many cases, when a watch is passed down it's much older reference and swapped parts etc aren't uncommon. The PO is a fairly recent watch release. Lots of dodgy going on here. You can do much better, unless of course, this one is free.

Look at the font for Seamaster on the bracelet, the lack of serial on the lug, the weird looking caseback with sloppy, melty waffle stamping, the lack of marks on the end links. I could go on but you probably get the gist. This ain't real. if you want to prove it to yourself, remove the back and take a look inside. It wont be the movement you expect. Oh another thing, the crystal looks pretty badly scratched in a few places. The real thing has a very tough sapphire crystal which is very scratch resistant, that one is prob mineral glass which is softer.

·That dial looks dodgy as hell. What's up with that lume color? It looks like 80s tritium but it can't be because every Planet Ocean ever made has used SuperLuminova, which retains its color over time.

·It's fake. I just looked at my 2201.50 (the 42mm version) and the 2200.50 (the 45.5mm version) and they do not match your photos.
Seamaster print on the dial should match the Omega and Professional color. The lume markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock are the wrong shape. The 9 on the date wheel is the wrong font (see photos below, the first is my 42mm and the second is a 45.5 from Chrono24). The bezel pip is wrong.
I'm sure there's more wrong but I stopped looking since it's clearly fake when comparing to the authentic watch.
