Hello everyone! New to the forums. Been lurking around abit. I've recently purchased my first vintage watch, and I'm uncertain its legit.. hoping to get some help and clarification on this... Thank you!
What has you worried? Why weren't you worried enough to ask before purchasing it? Did you check the reference number on the OVD?
Well, I found the seller a little dodgy. It was an auction so I just kind of went for it... looked alright to me. But im very inexperienced in these things. Upon receiving it I noticed the dials almost seem like their painted? Having the gold paint kindof smudging off onto the silved bakground dial.. is that normal? I have not checked any numbers
Ill try taking some better pictures of the dial.. a little scared to open the watch to check movement though. Those pictures are from the auction...
In the main it seems a OM but My comment would be that the dial has been poorly repaired .looks like some of the markers have been glued ? And the numerals painted, check 12,9,6 etc and the 8 marker. Oh and the second hand. Completely lost its value IMO .sorry but cal looks ok
The dials got finished with varnish that tends to degrade faster than the base paint. That is what I think you have noticed. It is to be expected for a watch like yours. Wear it and enjoy it.
I don't like it I am afraid. The dial looks to have been messed with and the picture makes the movement bridges look different colours which can be a sign of bodging.
Maybe the 'furniture ' was originally stainless steel, and at some point someone decided to add bling and make them gold-ish? The 'lume' dots are even worse. Not a watch I would want to buy, but it does appear to be a 'real' Omega, and no longer original. If I were the OP I would try and return this, and put my money into a much nice specimen.
