4 separate threads about the same watch and a Nato strap Which can be summed up as follows

1. Shall I get a nato for my watch?

2. I've got a nato for my watch

3. I've put a nato on my watch and I'm not sure I like it?

4. Shit! Is the nato I bought a fake?

Good going 😵‍💫

I remember a seller on eBay who would put real omega hardware on fake straps.

Fake. That one keeper next to the buckle says it all. The buckle might be real.

That said, even Omega's "NATO" is a fake "NATO". Doesn't follow the G10 standard.

I wish you’d explain more why that keeper near the buckle is an obvious tell, because I don’t see it. I have 4 genuine Omega NATO straps, and this one looks real to me. I know people are arguing it’s fake because the red lines are not absolutely straight, but that is impossible on a woven strap.

just look at how rough the corners are on the keeper. Omega has way more attention to detail to let something like that out the door.

I believe that Omega engraved (laser) OMEGA on every keeper.

that is 100% wrong. OMEGA is only engraved on the one keeper for the part that goes under the watch (just like on the OPs). The keepers that keep the end of the strap in check are NOT engraved in any way.

don’t see any rough corners. There’s a lot of reflection on the bottom edge. Maybe that’s the roughness you are talking about?

Not saying you’re wrong, but I would be hard-pressed to say the strap is fake based only on that one photo of the keeper.

The keepers are still so crudely wrought...

Waves and hardware aside - omega natos do have something like parts number, or model number let's say. I have a 'commanders watch' strap (straight lines) and its number is CWZ006531. The strap in OP has a number ZSZ002028, just googled ZSZ002028 and looks like it is the number of a black-grey bond strap.

I sent pics of the strap to omega in London and the serial number on the buckle is for a 22mm buckle and the nato commander is a 20mm buckle. My friend has a real one and when we compared them they are as far apart as an old skoda and a new Bentley. Everything about the strap is wrong from the colour to the finish. Even omega sent me an email saying its not of their design. The guy I bought it off on ebay is still saying its genuine and says it came on an omega speedmaster schumacher. Obviously it didn't come on a speedmaster schumacher lol. Its my own fault for buying it on ebay but ordered a real omega leather nato as cant buy commander natos anymore.

A post on the ‘please report fake/counterfeit item(s) and seller’ thread might be a good idea...

I purchased a fake on Ebay after purchasing the actual directly from Omega. I liked the Omega enough to purchase a spare and thought I found a good deal on Ebay. Nope! Here are the photos of the original and fake together. It should be noted that using a high powered magnifying glass reveals differences in the laser etching on the individual components. The Omega etching is a bit neater than the fake, but it looks like they are both done using a laser. I realized mine was fake after the buckle broke. The spring bar of the fake is obviously significantly inferior.

Original on top, Fake on bottom in these shots.

Really sucks! The seller gave me 50% off of an already lower price, so I am keeping the fake, somewhat reluctantly.
