Some of my tools are a delight to use, I've had others that have gone straight to the op shop or the bin after one use.

If the originator isn't familiar enough with the other language then they're unlikely to know of the issues presented on their behalf.
I would hope on all of the tools you threw out after one use, you didn't continue to use them after seeing them work poorly 😀

OP definitely took a few tries after being told the tools were doing a bad job.

This is true.

As far as I am aware, Google translate still does not alter any punctuation or wording. It's interesting that so many other translators no longer translate at all but instead generate entirely new scripted responses.

Gesundheit! Seems like you should have figured from the reaction that you had made a fool of yourself thanks to the AI... Just because folks didn't say it explicitly doesn't mean you shouldn't intuit it.

Once the nature of the posts got noticed, things got speculated on pretty quickly. I contributed pretty heavily to that- so I apologize for making you feel unwelcome. I accept that your watch is likely real and that this error could have occurred.

We've had a handful of AI using trolls around these parts; I think most web forums have. The text in your first handful of posts falls into the "uncanny valley" of internet forum messages. Both google translate and microsoft translator still use non-generative translation- but if you're running your text through something like ChatGPT, it's going to come out without any human voice.

I wouldn't say he made a fool of himself. He didn't know how using AI generated communications would be perceived on a watch forum that has had bots and scammers attempt to infiltrate the forum using AI. To the OP's credit he didn't pitch a fit and start hurling insults at every member and get himself banned. We have improbably reached a peaceful conclusion in this thread.

E in italiano tramite Google Translate:

And to answer the OP's original inquiry - If it were me I would would live with the "error" caseback. I just don't think the error is enough to merit the time and trouble of seeking a replacement, and I also think that Omega would replace it with a non-numbered caseback. I highly doubt they would create a new caseback with the proper limited edition numbering. But you're welcome to check.

E in italiano tramite Google Translate:
