·Ladies and gentlemen,
Just want to share with you my new acquisition. This is the Rolex Explorer 2 ref. 16570. I think it's all started when I have tried my first Rolex. It was an AirKing ref.14000. I got a feel of the Rolex. Watch was comfortable to wear and really nice looking with white roman dial....I thought that was it and I would have just one Rolex in my little collection. I bet a lot of you were thinking the same way while getting one of the first watches, ended up with huge collections.
Yes, I was wrong.Another thread where blurry pictures and attractive price, turned out to be a beautiful watch. So, I had no issues of selling my AirKing and day later, I was checking out this Explorer in the real life. I did my home work, before I went to see it and voila....I met this older gentleman, who told me the story, that he bought this watch back in 1996, wore it for a year and put it away to safe for decade. He was going to pass it to his kids, but they didn't care about the watch itself. They did try to sell it almost right away. He took the watch away from the kids and it went back to safe, until now. He made a decision to sell it to someone who will appreciate the watch. After some emails back and forth, he figured that I would be one of these people. Shure, I would. Love this watch already.
Here is what I seen:
Serial T - brings me back to mid 1995.
Reference 16570 between the lugs.
It has 78790 oyster bracelet with 501 B end links.
Magnification on the cyclop looks x 2.5
Dial marked swiss-T <25 at 6 o'clock.
Red GMT hand.
Tritium lumes are not glowing (12.5 years, they are done)
Bracelet has minimal stretch.
Let me know, if you guys can spot something that I've missed(hopefully not).
Blurry picture is the one from the seller. http://cloud.tapatalk.com/s/591296f091335/IMG_0559.JPG
