    Hello all,

does anybody know what the letter / character "M" on a movement plate means?

I found it on a 30 T2 SC Rg movement - see picture below

    thanks and kind regards

Could mean Mike owned it at some point, Dennis just engraves the Batman symbol on his movement plates, I never asked why.

It was for metal (calibers put in cases that were not gold nor silver). I saw it quite often on older movements. Didn't know it was still used when 30t2 was produced.
    Take care,

    Thanks Yann for that!
I've made the exact same question in some other thread and now I got it.

    Yann,

thank you for your input - this sounds plausible! But I have never seen it on a 30mm chronometer movement...
They sometimes have the OXG for export to the US, Patek Philippe uses PXP...
I initially thought "M" might have a similar meaning...

    best

    Hi Erich,
I tried to find the source of this information in my documentation, without success... I was sure to have read it in a serious source but maybe I'm the self intoxicated victim of an urban legend?

I'll continue to look for it. It indeed sounds strange to have the composition of the case engraved on the movement, especially when you know that Omega was producing calibers by batches and took them from their stock when needed for assembly. Maybe for import (taxes) rules?

In the meantime let's take some precautions on my answer.

    Take care,
    Yann
