Hi, A good weekend to everyone. As my search for my 1st vintage watch continue, i came across this watch. Would like to seek opinion from the esteemed members here regarding this. From what i learned over the 1 month, especially from this forum, this is a 168.005 with cal 561. From the serial number, its from 1966/67. General condition of the watch looks fair to me (of course there are much better one out there). The dial looks original, some minor damage near 9 o'clock marker. Is there anything i missed over the dial near the swiss made area? The case looks reasonable, with minimal polishing done if any. There are some minor dents here and there over the case, but nothing seems major from my untrained eyes. The crown is correct for the watch. The movement's condition looks fair for its age. Did I missed anything? Would like to ask what would be the fair value for this piece, for this condition? Before i bid for it. Once again thank you very much and have a wonderful weekend everyone.
The crystal and retaining ring look to be missing, maybe that’s why you are seeing issues near Swiss Made. The dial has some patina and there are a few marks on the lugs from strap changes. I would say the overall condition is average and expect to pay £800 - £1000.
Thank you very much for your opinion. Is the issue with crystal and retaining ring serious? Or easily sorted by the service guy? And what's the damage like?
Cool piece! Those dials are a very specific look, consider these super clean oversized (37-38mm) earlier omegas that you can sometimes find for a similar price? But go with that if you love it!
A blatant targeted sales attempt! Ask the seller if the watch comes with a crystal and retaining ring. Sometimes sellers take photos with the crystal removed to make their images clearer. Regardless your watchmaker can source a new crystal and sort this for you. The damage to the lugs doesn’t look too bad, you can expect some marks on a watch of this age. It’s in original condition which is a bonus but like I said condition is average so don’t overpay.
