Hi everyone, I am new here and hoping to pick ur expert brains. I bought the connie last year without viewing it, and without much due diligence to be honest!! I paid around $1300 for the watch, which was purchased in the USA in 2005 for around $2000. I have spent hours reading and researching, and I think it's a 2852??? Brutal and honest pls guys, thanks I hope......

Oof. Didn't know there were redialers around in 2005 with the ability to create half-decent script.

- Bracelet isn't the right model for this watch.
- Caseback is practically worthless
- Dial is not an original black galvanic dial
- Seconds hand is an aftermarket replacement
- Crown is a service replacement.
- Case is extremely polished; double-bevel bezel has lost most of its definition

Can't tell you much about the movement, but based on the rest, it's not looking good.

Drop the whole thing on eBay as a no-reserve auction. Optimistically, I'd estimate around $600-700 if the movement's in decent condition. $400-500 if it isn't. Personally, I wouldn't pay a dime for it.

I don’t think the bracelet or end pieces are correct for this watch. When a case is beat up like that and a dial looks almost new, that is a sign of a redial.

Case, dial and movement should all be in similar condition, otherwise something has been altered.

It's usually better to move the hands so that they don't obscure the printing, but it sounds like the experts were able to see enough anyway.

Well, it's not going to fool an expert, and the issues have been explained in detail above. But looking purely at a dial view, it's not a bad-looking watch, which is the main thing most people care about. I agree that you could probably get a decent amount of your money back if you put it on eBay.

Yeah thanks Dan, the watch does look nice, just not original as i now know. So is a redial a new dial, or the original dial overpainted? Also would it be worth more in pieces???

Usually it's the original dial painted over. I don't think it would be worth more as parts, because most of the parts are not in good enough condition to be valuable to collectors. My sense is that the watch has most value to someone who wants to buy a nice-looking vintage watch and doesn't care about collectibility. Which probably described you at the time you bought the watch.

The one exception to my comment above is that you might possibly get more by selling the bracelet separately. And there's really no harm in doing so, since it's not the right bracelet for that watch anyway.

Ha ha ha, yes Dan, I was that man!
Here's an idea. I may just keep it, wear it, and tell my uneducated friends it's super rare and worth thousands.........
Thanks again for the help

It'll fetch more than what's estimated here, but reduce eBay's near 20% fees and you're toast

Even comical redials fetch a lot more and I think yours looks good, they made a handsome watch, I think it was a mistake to draw the line in between the Omega symbol, while they were re-inventing the wheel, they might as well skip the logo too

Just wear it and be happy. Once you find a better one, you can always sell it. And selling the band on the Bay might be a good idea. Plenty of nice leather bands around.
