Experience with Micro Adjusting Clasp for Speedmaster

Hi everyone, I wanted to share a few observations on the micro adjusting clasp for the Speedmaster.

The 6 position clasp 117STZ001154 adds a little over 2 links of length at the longest position.
- I was on the smallest adjustment on the original clasp. The fit was too loose.
- After getting the micro adjustable clasp and removing 2 links, the same fit is at about the 3rd longest position on the micro adjusting clasp (i.e., 2 adjustments smaller than the longest position).
- I am glad I didn't go with the 3 position clasp 117STZ004666. I don't think that would have given me enough adjustment for a good fit.

The OB was more expensive than the service centre (in Toronto).
- An OB quote in Nov 2020 was $360 for the 3 position clasp + $73 x2 for end links + $25 shipping to the boutique.
- I went to the service centre in Toronto in Dec 2021, and I paid $340 for the 6 position clasp + $69 x 2 for the endlinks (prices in CAD).

The clasp adds a bit of weight to the already heavy bracelet. I'm glad I got the clasp, but giving up on the bracelet and going to a leather strap would have been just as good IMO.

I have the micro adjustable clasp for my speedy as well. For the investment made (I bought the bracelet and then the adjustable clasp, after the watch purchase) I make myself wear it on steel occasionally, but after several days it goes back on a strap. To do it again? I probably wouldn't. But the water is under the bridge now and it will continue to get inconsistent usage 😵‍💫
