Since the new ceramic divers announcement, I have read all the online reviews and ate up all the pictures. My eyes were consistently drawn to the Sedna version. However, I had not seen one in person to judge its actual appeal in the metal/ceramic. A few months ago, I had the pleasure of seeing the Deep Black Sedna in person while on vacation in Las Vegas at the boutique. Admittedly, I went in planning on being a little underwhelmed and writing this one off as "it's great looking but not for me." How wrong I was! Since then, I have kept getting visions of this watch dancing in my head...you all know this feeling. Finally, I decided a few weeks ago that it was time to pull the trigger. I called up my preferred AD and inquired. By luck, there was one making it's way through US customs and had not been allocated to a store/client yet. "Mine!!" I metaphorically yelled whilst replying to my AD on the news. Yesterday, my wife and I took a road trip over to the AD to pick up my new watch and made a day of the affair. I wanted to share with everyone some pics, my excitement, and my thoughts. I find the combination of the ceramic and Sedna gold to be impressively elegant yet sporty. It's comes across as very sharp without too much flash. On the wrist, it has solid wrist presence but remains very light and comfortable. The way the lugs curve, it sits flush on the wrist and does not feel like's it is sticking way up because of the thickness. The strap has really impressed me! It's alligator leather combined with soft rubber on the underside. Omega has made this to be water proof like the watch leaving me having no fears with getting it wet like with most leather straps. It feels and exudes high quality. Very very happy with it! Although not the most important part for me, I really dig the aesthetics of the open case back combined with the NAIAD locking mechanism. It adds a fun touch! The dial and bezel simply leave me smiling! I've found myself staring at it for periods of time and appreciating all of the small high quality details that have gone into it. The lume is also a nice little touch. Definitely bright and easily readable in the dark. I get a kick out of the use of both blue and green. All in all, this is a fun watch that I plan on enjoying for a very long time! Thanks for reading! *Bonus Pic* On the way home, my wife had the urge for some retail therapy of her own. I also think she got tired of my ceaseless raving about my new watch as I became her personal clothes rack for all the items she was buying. I don't think her choice in limbs to drape the cloths was on accident...
Damn I love that watch! Altogether stunning, and exactly why I wear my 45.5 Ti PO on rubber! It feels like a true sport watch that way. [emoji1360]
Every corner, every point of view is pleasing, aesthetic and fun to observe…never this object will become boring, as other watches do. Enjoy and be grateful you have come across this one.
Great write up and what an amazing looking timepiece! I think it is the perfect balance of sporty and stylish whilst also looking understated but retaining just enough ‘flash’ at the same time.
