Granted, this is not the Gruen with the Rolex movement inside. It's a Caravelle with an AS1903. A nice AS1903 auto movement is good to have in the parts bin. This watch was so filthy on the outside that I could only tell it was a Caravelle from 1973 by the back. Pulled it apart and saw the second hand and said "cool". Never seen that before. Cleaned it up and put it back together and into the "keep" box.........still marked AS1903 on the back, though.......just in case. Kinda reminds me of the movie Charlotte's Web. The pig was destined for slaughter, then a feature was found. That's some pig
Love that dial and those funky numerals. I’ve seen a couple of those seconds hands on the devil Divers from caravelle. They have all been red from what I have seen. Either way nice find and a cool keeper!
I hanve in my collection, several that langoured in a junk drawer, and that might have become donors. But after I discovered them and gave them some TLC, they have become watches that I enjoy.
