Shit has now officially become weird AF..

after a solid day of traveling 41'ish miles to get to me I just received an update that the watch has been "Received at El Paso Distribution Center" which is great I suppose other than that's where it was received two days ago and LEFT from this morning.

Hopefully it's a glitch and the watch is actually here in my town and will be delivered tomorrow. This is getting a touch stressy -- and I assumed the harrowing part of the journey would be from Japan to the States not the final 41 miles to me.

One good thing about DHL, is you can watch the truck. I'm watching the truck delivering my new Vario Grey Tuxedo watch. 😎

Eagle has landed!

Wife just sent me this photo with the text...

"Umm, Japan Post, Swiss Watch no battery, used, box and booklets? Can I assume this yet another watch?
And you gifted me a single red rose and 'discounted' chocolates for my birthday last month with the announcement that we needed to be careful with spending because of the stock market?
You are such an asshole, I love you but you are such an asshole - unless this watch is for me, which I know it is not."

Okay, so I've got a watch to open this evening *and* a significant hole to dig myself out of BUT it's here!!

Ok, now that you have gotten your watch, we will need to have another thread for you to learn how to not be an asshole at home. There is an art to it!

This has taken a grim turn. May I suggest that a chunky man’s watch + bracelet is a bold and arresting look on a woman’s wrist and makes an excellent surprise/emergency gift.

When I bought my M5 almost 20 years ago, I budgeted the cost of a 31mm DJ into the cost of the car. No heartburn.
Of course both a ladies DJ and an M5 were substantially cheaper then.

@krogerfoot did an awesome and fabulous job at expediting this entire stressful chapter of my life, and to that I say... Thank You Sir!!

I could not be more pleased. I have wanted this watch since the announcement of it in 2017, and even though other things got in the way of that happening it always stayed firmly in the front of my brain (especially given that my grandfather had the original Railmaster, given to him by his son/my dad, and that it was laid to rest with his body when he passed).
And now the dream is a reality.
A separate thread to follow but in the meantime -- a few photos before I begin the lengthy task of proving to my wife that I still have a few redeeming qualities left in me (namely ~ dinner making skills, chores, compliments, listening to her and of course apologizing profusely for any & all reasons)...

I have shipped a 3 things internationally recently and being in California, all of my USPS outward international packages go to the Los Angeles international distribution center. Lately it seems USPS likes to take the packages on a tour before saying farewell. These first two examples have already been delivered. Starting at the bottom of the screen shot and working your way up:

Package 1

Package 2.
Again, bottom up

And, Package 3, my most recent and still in transit. This one decided to skip LA altogether and tour the south… hopefully on its long way round to NY’s international facility. But pay attention to the dates in this one. For a few days USPS had me believing they had an international facility in Memphis… Again, bottom up

And the current state of a fourth package I have sent abroad. Not sure why they arrive to, leave, circle around, and arrive back to the international center before leaving

Ive got one that has me frustrated... I'm an hour from Oakland, should have been here today but it went back to Tennessee (Jed). Its a Speedy (yeah, big surprise) that had bad pictures but a 2911XXX serial number so hoping for a bit of brown .... now I get to wait until Monday 🤬
