Really, I can barely contain my excitement. Honesty, I'm buzzing. Buzzing with excitement after meeting about fifty other Speedmaster fans, seeing quite some of their watches and spending a lot of leisure time with newly made friends.

Earlier today, we enjoyed the third annual Speedmaster Get Together in the Netherlands. Started as a spin off of the Omega x Fratello organised Speedy Tuesday events, this private event brought together some of the wildest Omega Speedmaster collections from no less than 13 different countries worldwide. A huge shout out to @watchstick_81 is definitely in order as he is the driving force behind this amazingly well-organised event.

Quite some of the people present are members here too, I've had a great time with @cristos71, @iamvr, @hansaboy, @Robert-Jan and @Alex Cheers. Perhaps I chatted to quite a few others without realising it too. It requires some mental gymnastics to match up Instagram handles, OF handles and actual names. All whilst getting completely overwhelmed by the sheer amount of amazing pieces. In total I would guess there were no less than 500 watches presented. Ranging from very big collections, to people having brought one or two. Omega and Watchfid (MWO) brought some interesting stuff to the table too. Everything, ranging from very early vintage to the latest production was to be found here.

Unfortunately, I have to admit I have not been the best at taking pictures, but I am sure others will chime in and add theirs. Also, Fratello might write an event report on it (Calling @Robert-Jan )...

For now, here's my sorry attempt at a photo report to get you started! Hope you'll enjoy them!

We were greeted by dedicated Speedmaster themed artwork (great job, @watchstick_81) at the door of the private and beautiful venue...

Here's a selection of the watches that absolutely struck me. Starting with an ACP signed Speedy:
Some Racings!

That Orange hand is fun too!

One of about twenty '80s Speedmasters in WG:

Did I mention one of the best 2915-3's I've ever seen?

Those Alpha hands...

Oh, and a Soleil dial too! (This is what Omega took inspiration from when designing the current FOIS)

Some admittedly silly pictures of a few of the tables, showing we weren't overly religious when it comes to Omega. Other brands are welcome too...

It's always a good excuse to get some of my own watches out of the safe, which is unfortunately where most of them usually reside.

The surroundings were pretty amazing too!

Looking back upon a memorable afternoon, for sure!

When I arrived back home, the goodie bag turned out to be nicely filled! Partially supported by Omega. It's very nice they actively support an event like this!

Wonder what's in the box?

... of course immediately put to use while writing this little write up.

To me, these events confirm why this is hobby is so much fun. It's about the watches, for sure, but even more so it's about the people I've met through these. I can barely wait for a next occasion!

It's great to see you've selected completely different pieces to feature here! Although I have to admit I was quite smitten by the gold FOIS in your last picture too... 馃槈

I love this. What a great set of photos, and the goody bag as well! I'd love to attend something like this here in the UK.

What a mind blowing event!
These were the first words I said to my wife when I met her for the trip back home to Sweden!

But let's start from the beginning!!??

My Dear Forum Friend @Aludic managed to convince @watchstick_81 who arranged the GTG in The Netherlands
that some Swedes do have manners, can behave and are very much in love with Speedys!
So I got very very happy when the invitation arrived, and it was time to make some plans.

The event was on a Sunday, and I thought that a nice weekend holiday with my wife in Amsterdam would be great!
We took the Red-eye flight from Copenhagen, so we had the whole Friday and Saturday to play tourists.
Amsterdam is a lovely city, with the canals, old and majestic buildings, and lots and lots of restaurants/cozy bars!

Sunday morning came - with the final details regarding the location, how to get there and some other info.
One of Jordys most important thoughts are that we who are joining the GTG should feel safe with our watches and not have any worries!
Security was top priority!

On arrival, just looking at the place was amazing, the building itself is from 1754!

Jordy welcomed everybody with a great smile,
and there was coffee, drinks and snacks to start with, and after that - time to set the tables (with watches..馃榾)!

Then the PARTY started!
Around fifty Speedy freaks laying out their wonderful collections, everybody wanting to look, have a chat and look some more!
And to finally meet Forum Friends that I only had been chatting with - So nice and heartwarming!
We talked watches, watches and watches鈥nd of course other stuff as well!

The event started at eleven, and ended at five, and there was lots of food, snacks, and drinks.
And time to sit down and have a chat or two.

The vibe was very pleasing, everybody took their time talking about their own collection,
and also asked about other's collections - a true paradise for Speedy Freaks!

Jordy had also managed to invite the authors of the Moonwatch Only book, and they where very helpful and pleasing.
They also sign my copy of the book - YAY!!!

An extra bonus was that Omega (The Omega!!) had lots of new watches to show!

This event was the highlight of my year, and as I told my Forum Friends on the way home - who needs Christmas!!
Thanks to everyone/everybody, and thanks Jordy for making this happen!
鉂わ笍

And Sander - thanks for the ride to the airport - it was really nice hearing your roaring engine through the sunroof in the tunnel!
::psy::

And an open bar!
馃槏

Some of the Amazing collections!

Crater Box Bonanza!

My contribution...

And we love Breeewski!

Comparing watches (CB麓s and 69麓s with brown dials)!

105.012-66, with 89 serial nr difference!

Managed to try on the amazing 2998-3 (thanks Sander!)

My own signed copy!
VERY HAPPY!!

And the closing pictures - why the fluff do you have a Black/Black, you can't see what time it is....And Omega had the new one...!!
The laugh of the room I think?

In all seriousness, how does one get invited to this? I'd easily plan a return journey and overnight stay nearby if it meant I could come and enjoy the day with fellow enthusiasts. It must have been such a fantastic experience for everyone involved.

Thank you @Aludic, @hansaboy and @YY77 -and many other OF users- for participating in this third edition of Speedmaster GTG NL! I think we can all store lots of wonderful new memories in our hippocampus (the long-term memory of our brains, if I'm not mistaken) and I am so proud that it was such a great success! I found it heartwarming to see how friendly everyone was with each other, how each watch was treated with the utmost care, and how everyone left with a smile on their face.

For those who don't know yet: it's my non-profit passion project where collectors from all over the world are welcome! It's not about the size of your watch collection, but you do have to fit in with the group and pay the registration fee. That's why I only invite collectors and/or Speedmaster enthusiasts who have been recommended by previous guests. This is due to the safety regulations of this GTG.

For this third edition, there were more than 55 participants from 13 countries! Omega was also there this time, with Omega product manager Romain Vuilleumier showing Omega's novelties (how remarkable is that for a private event?!). The authors of Moonwatch Only, Anthony Marqui茅 and Gr茅goire Rossier, were also present and their new Moonwatch Dials book made its debut at our GTG! Amazing book and I ordered one as well! The writers mentioned multiple times that the GTG had exceeded their expectations, which I am very proud of! All three special guests were amazing, just like every guest that joined, one traveling all the way from NYC and one from Canada!

Here is my photo report. I must admit that I didn't have much time to view every collection. I had so many conversations that some guests already had to leave before I could view their collections. Oh well, I always say that it's better to leave something undiscovered than to already know everything.

Enjoy!

Former estate of the mayor of Utrecht, and we had the entire location (two stories) to ourselves!

There are so many personal highlights and favourite Speedmasters, but here are a few watches that I have actually captured with my iPhone.

My new Speedymoon 345.0809 on the left, small moon of a friend on the right.

Vintage delight! Look at that patina

What about this soleil dial!

Ultraman! There were three of them! The three Ultramigo's!

Mustard patina looks amazing!

Grey dial in a mediocre state, typical of these obscure dials.

Some of the other amazing collections! So many....and so little time! Fortunately, the owner of the large suitcase does not live too far away from me. I didn't even get a chance to look at it (again...).

Some other collections

Another Speedy Dutchman with an amazing collection. This is from @Aludic!

@hansaboy went the extra mile and brought his entire Speedmaster collection with him from Sweden! Including the "battery boys" 馃檭

Some other watches that really stood out:

Those 67 racing dial Speedies were my personal favorites of this GTG! And I didn't even spot the third one (it was under the macro lens in one of the photos above).

Alaska III? Here's two of them!

An absolutely stunning CK2915-3!

Omega brought their novelties and it was fun to see how product manager Romain also enjoyed speaking with all collectors about their (often vintage) collections.

I really liked the two tone! I didn't see that coming, but it's more subtle than it appears in the photos.

Towards the end of the GTG, I managed to take a few more photos of some other rare vintage models, and some guests combined their collections on the table.
Grey dial in perfect condition.

Grey dial that had a rough life! Still cool though.

Of course, no one went home without a gift! Many thanks to Omega, who once again supplied their chocolate Speedies! What a day! I loved every bit of it.

Thanks for your reply and explanation of how to get invited. Likely a dream for me considering I don鈥檛 even own a Speedmaster as of yet. But hey, there we go - these things in life are the way they are meant to be. Such wonderful photos - I鈥檓 going to go through them all thoroughly and enjoy from afar! 馃憤馃榿

Well I don't have the words to describe how outstanding this GTG is. It's really an unbelievable experience and I'm very grateful that I got invited again, thank you so much @watchstick_81 !

It is not only that you get to see utterly mind blowing collections of Speedmasters, it is also everything around it, from the organization, the area the event is located and the way @watchstick_81 makes you feel welcome. You also simply meet the nicest people at a Speedmaster GTG! I was very happy to see @Aludic and @YY77 again and that I also met @iamvr and @hansaboy for the first time! Also it was super cool to meet the authors of MWO!

This year I also tried to take some pictures but you forget it easily when the time just flies while chatting to other enthusiasts and looking at so many beautiful and mind blowing Speedmasters that make you forget everything 馃槀 Anyway here is what I got 馃槀

wait for it

Imagine if that Speedie had a practical "60 seconds" bezel as requested by NASA astronaut feedback in 1967 and again in 1970 right after the Apollo 13 mission 馃
