Mafkees
路Greetings!
Up for grabs is my trusty Eterna with a great art deco dial. Do note this is a 90 year old watch, so its condition alone is a testament to the amazing quality Eterna produced back in the day (do excuse the fanboying!). The case is a clamshell variant, which should need no further introduction. Still, here's some background: https://www.vintagewatchstraps.com/blogCH189190.php
Watch specifics
This watch has many highlights. It is rectangular, obviously, which is an uncommon sight. The case is very well-designed and manufactured, featuring intricate chamfers that elongate the wrist-presence of the case, as well as drilled lug-holes. The case and case back are curved ever so slightly (they are slightly hollow), hugging your wrist comfortably and avoiding sliding action, even when wearing it more loosely.
The Staybrite material makes for an interesting appearance. The color is just not the same as stainless steel; instead, it is a deeper grey, that is easily discernible when compared side to side.
The case diameters are 39mm in length (lug tip to lug tip) and 29mm wide (excluding the crown).
Did I mention Staybrite? That's right, solid Staybrite. No oxidation, no plating. Top notch quality, indeed, and its hefty weight when picking up the watch confirms that notion.
Signed 'Fab. Suisse', the dial is in excellent condition.
Art deco, anyone? Check out that 'petite seconde', and the hands! I'll let pictures do the further talking.
Finally, the movement. This watch boasts an Eterna cal. 740 in-house rectangular movement. It was serviced in my possession in 2020 and runs very well in terms of accuracy. Do note this caliber features shock protection! Please refer to the brochure below.
*please note that this picture of the movement was made before it was disassembled and cleaned during the service.
There is however one functional issue, that is related to the non-original crown and possibly age wear to the base plate. I would describe it as follows:
The crown is fixed to the stem in a slightly unlevel position. When adjusting the time to position X, sometimes the crown is too close to the case, preventing you from actually setting the time. I find that this can be worked around by turning the crown 90 degrees further (adjusting the crown angle respective to the case) and trying again. I'd guesstimate the frequency of having to do a second run at setting the time at 50%. I don't recall ever having to try more than twice.
Sales specifics
This is my second watch sale on OF. The first one was sold last week and is currently in transit, so there's no feedback yet. I have bought a few, though, and I managed to track two feedback links and included them below. Please note that I haven't always been as active on OF as I am today but that I can provide you with 25+ references from a Dutch watch forums, if desired; I use the same username there.

My asking price (payment via bank wire is highly preferred) for this what I believe to be a unique piece is EUR 875,00 head-only, though I am including the original Bonklip bracelet as pictured on the watch above. I will list the watch as head-only, however, because one of the endlinks on the Bonklip has been damaged by yours truly and it will require straightening before it can be reunited with the watch. I believe this Bonklip to be original to the watch since it is pictured in the brochure, too. We're looking at no. 51 here.
The watch is located in The Netherlands and I'd prefer a EU sale (which means GB is excluded). EU shipping is included in this price and I promise to ship bombproof (and waterproof, given the country of origin 馃槈 ).
Kind regards,
Matt
