Up for sale this Tissot with an exceptionally beautiful glossy, dual tone gilt black radium dial with radial indexes. Dealers might be tempted to call it a sector dial or scientific dial— but I won’t, as I am content to find it in the purest art deco style. While I know little about Tissot, the combination of that dial with a high quality screw back steel case appears to date it to the late 1930s or the 1940s. The case measures 31mm excl the original crown. I acquired the watch in total barn find condition and had it rescued from the dead with a complete movement service, crystal change and relume of the minute hand, and laser refill on three lugs. The side of the lugs bear visible marks which I can only guess were left once upon a time by a tool — but they don’t bother me as they’re part of the life of the watch and being on the side they kind of recede from view when you wear the watch. Likewise the case back has a scratch which you will see on the pictures and which l also have left alone. Again please see my photos taken with an I Phone 11 with no processing and on which I did my best to show the flaws. Going back to the dial which is the star of the show, I should mention I have never seen such a spectacular one on the open market — except on the website of high end japanese watch dealers I recall charging up to 2000 dollars. As you know those are exceedingly difficult to take pictures of and it is even nicer in real life. Any dust you see is outside the crystal. Considering all of the above, I am looking to pass it on at my cost — 400 euros net to me. Payment via Paypal « friends and family » or wire transfer. Happy to do regular Paypal if you’re a known contributor on the forum and will pick up the +4% commission. The watch and I are in France, EU deal preferred but happy to discuss otherwise depending on where you are. Shipment costs to be added and discussed. Subject to confirmation, international registered mail with tracking and signature should be around 12 euros to EU and 25 euros outside EU / Europe. Contributing members and pals may receive preferential treatment. Being a bit ignorant about Tissot I cannot tell what caliber this is, and happy to be corrected with any input from knowledgeable Tissot collectors.
It's a nice service that forum members do sometimes, to bring these gems back from the dead and pass them along to other collectors at cost. Appreciate the effort and lovely watch.
Thanks for the kind words dear @bgrisso - and to everyone for the kind appreciation. Please note I added some dial pictures at the end of the listing which had somehow been stranded in the initial upload.
