My daughter graduates this year from high school. She doesn't care for a ring, not even the yearbook, she wants to score a vintage watch...

Does anybody knows of a good place to have the back plate engraved? Most machine engraving look like crap and would certainly look out of place on what could be a 40's~50's watch.

Heck if you have any clever ideas for the actual words let's hear them.

    That's a very nice gesture.

Maybe an inscription that reads something like "engraving watches may devalue them"?

    :). Kidding!

Devalue them in whose eyes? My daughter's, or some stranger for whom I'm not buying a watch? ;)

I'm not sure of any engravers but I would say go for it. It's a nice detail. :)

If I remember correctly, the Rolex AD can do engraving (or at least the one in Chicago). So maybe check out the authorized dealer for the brand? Otherwise, my best guess is jewelers who are also AD for high end watches (there's plenty of them).

I know a guy who can do it for you, he did one for me. Pretty good job I reckon:

Those engravings look nice. I also have been thinking of getting some of my watches engraved in the near future. I particularly like the handwriting texts with different fonts / styles.

    Thanks for sharing.

This is not a good idea. If she will receive this watch without any engraving she will be same happy as with this engraving. Remember that our memories and feelings we carry in hearts not in our watches. That is only my opinion.
