Like many here I am fascinated with the Omega Speedmaster watch. There is much to like about the Speedmaster, and for me, one of many items I like about the Speedmaster is how they have been able to maintain *almost* the same look since the late 1950's. Certainly to the casual observer a Speedmaster from the mid 1960's looks identical to one from 2016.

I am on a quest to obtain a Speedmaster from each decade. At this point I have one from the 60's, 70's, 90's, 00's. So just need one from the 80's and 10's. I purposely left out the 1950's Speedy, as this is not one I can afford at this time, or actually ever in my life.

From Left to right:

1960's Ed White - Archive indicates first sold in 1967
1970's Straight Writing - first sold in Dec 1975
1990's 3572.50 - My first Speedmaster, also birth year of youngest son 馃榾
2000's Gemini 4 - favorite watch in the universe.

Future to include: a tin-tin, or wait to see the 60th anniversary for 2010 decade. For 1980's Speedmaster, might be a 20th Anniversary Apollo 11 version.

So please do share if your line up. Would love to see a member here post a Speedmaster from every decade.

I used to have one from 60's to 2010, but I sold all the ones newer than '70's...

Er, maybe I didn't have one from the 90's come to think of it.

Look! Something shiny!

Look, it's the new Speedmaster Spotlight reference. Never bang your shins into the bedside table at 2 am again!

Great story, picture, and of course watches! Good luck choosing which two you will get next. Gotta love the lugs on that Ed White.

Update: I am going to change this thread to a Speedy from each decade I have lived. So from the 60;s onward. Much more realistic as I don't even know if it is possible to buy a 2915 Speedmaster.

I will post an updated pic next week, as I have an incoming, and I also have a change from the others posted above.

After next week I will have all decades covered (60's, 70's, 90's, 00's, 10's) except the 1980s. I am at a loss for what Speedmaster options are available. I am not a fan of the Mark V Speedy or the Reduced, both first issued in the 1980s. I don't have a desire to buy a 145.022-80s watch, as I already have a 3572.50. I can't afford an Apollo XI White Gold and if I could I would not be able to find one (they made 20).

So I am reaching out for ideas.

1989 Apollo XI commemorating the 20th anniversary of Apollo XI landing on the moon, and 1989 18-karat rose gold and steel Speedmaster reduced.

I am almost there. So happy with the CK2998. This one is awesome. But so is the Ed White, the Gemini4, the 3572.50 (birth year of youngest) and the Mark III, 176.002 Speedy (extract on order).

I do appreciate the feedback on the 1980s Speedmasters, but at this point still exploring options.

Way to go with the CK2998! She's a beaut!

You are sooo lucky you weren't born in the 50s, like me.

What will 2017 bring? I hope a speedy from the 1980s 馃榾

This is my only goal for 2017 (related to watches). I will be selling off three Seamasters and a straight writing to make this happen.

I have pretty much ruled out any automatic Speedmasters. And the typical speedy from the era.

Few options are below (source is the MoonWatch only book).

Any tips on these for sale, please let me know.

Not quite #1 on my list, but up there.

This could work, its a different look...

Would love this one. Came across one for sale in Greece, but the bezel was beat up so passed.

would want to see this one in real life before buying, could work

Will say this once catches my eye, but might be to blingy.

Aren't Ploprofs being worn on the calf?

It's been a little over a year since I made it a goal to complete a decades collection. I know at least two members have one. I'm still trying. I just missed out on a Speedmaster Italy a couple weeks back. And was outbid on an Apollo 20th that was not correctly identified in a recent eBay auction.

Since the last update I added a X-33, -69SW, -71 pawn shop find, and today I added a Tin-tin.

Still no 1980s era speedmaster. 馃檨
