Hm. What’s an egg lady?

Darn. I knew I'd get into trouble.

In the 1970s my wife and myself had just arrived in Malaysia and every couple of days an old lady would call around selling eggs. Chicken and duck mostly. They were really fresh and great for Aussie breakfasts and in stir fries. She became known to us as "the egg lady".

At work one day in the crew room I innocently asked "has anyone seen the egg lady recently, she hasn't been around for a day or so?".
The troops in the crew room immediately burst into laughter. One of my mates who'd been there longer pulled me aside and explained that "my" egg lady wasn't the source of their amusement, rather it was a well known "after dark" attraction often seen in seedier bars in town.

As we're in mixed company, I'll not expand further.
