I viewed... and bought this today! So am now in the market to swap case backs or buy a nice 145.003 case back. Please pleeeeease bear me in mind if you do have one!! We know It obviously has the wrong case back, a very nice 145.012-67..and I think the final price reflected that. The seller had already applied for an Omega extract, and received the cancellation letter " Due to the nature of vintage archives in certain cases information has not survived, is unreadable or even missing. We regret to inform you that unfortunately the provided serial number (2406****) falls onto that category, so we are unable to issue an Extract of the Archives. Therefore we will issue a full refund of your payment". I have looked at Speedy101 many times in the last 48hrs and the 24m serial falls into the '65 range , and is also within MWO's '65 range, so I have convinced myself it's ok The previous pics were rubbish..and I was very impressed with it's condition when I saw it in the flesh. Great unpolished and virtually mark free case, dial and bezel very nice, crown/pushers very good, original hesalite...also the movement is very clean, it has the original box and a paper receipt from 1968 from the jewellers that sold it. It also had a pretty tidy 1171/633 bracelet...that I will sell. It will now go to STS for a full service and tidy up, where needed. Heres a few quick pics from my phone in low light. Cheers guys.
Very nice! Quick Q - do the 633 end links fit? They're supposed to be 20mm, and the 105.003 lugs are 19mm, so they might have been shaved. Important to note if you're selling the bracelet.
@abrod520 Thanks.. I have just measured them and they are indeed 19mm. How much do you think that affects the resale by? I would like to sell the bracelet as i will never use it. Cheers.
Well, 1171 / 633 bracelets are available brand-new for something just south of US$ 400 or so, but vintage ones haven't seemed to bring much beyond maybe $300. Considering the shaved end links won't fit a Speedmaster Professional (which the bracelet was designed for) I don't know if it'd be worth selling, unless another member here has a watch with 19mm lugs they'd like an 1171 for!
I might be interested in the 1171 bracelet, I already have a set of 633 end links. Hit me up when you decide to part with the bracelet.
Did you bring cash and made it rain? Told u it would be motivating.... Surprised jacek has not answered you I would think win win for every body
Congrats! always willing to take that caseback off your hands for a pretty penny very nice watch though indeed!
Ha ha yes i took cash! Jacek did eventually answer and told me he'd already done the swap with a guy called kirill. The hunt continues! Lovely watch btw !
Kirill runs lunaroyster, another dealer, he has web page and does a fair bit of speedmasters, you could message him and have him keep an eye out too
Ah right ok, yes i've see his page, didn't realise it was him. He has some lovely watches! I'll drop him a mail, cheers.
