Hi!

I want to share my 105.003-65 recently acquiered at an auction in a small town near my home.

After spending a lot of time reading on 60ies Speedmasters here on the forum and on Speedmaster101 (thanks to everyone) and talking with two members here I am pretty shure that this one is a well preserved example in original condition. Please let me know if I'm wrong with that assessment!

The only disadvantage is the `misprinted' DON which is off centre shifted to the left but I saw some others with this problem and I accept it as part of this watches history.
More important for me is that the watch hasn't been messed around with.
The watch will receive a service and the (omega signed) crystal will get a polish

I paid just a bit more than "running condition" (Speedmaster101 price chart) and I think that is a fair price.

Enough said, here are some pictures, thanks for looking!

Very clean dial, correct hands, lume slightly aged at some points but complete and original

Facets well preserved, brushing looks nice. Case slightly polished or unpolished. Some wear to the case but nothing serious..

Correct crown (flat foot, 7mm, 24 teeth) and pushers (4,5 mm)

crisp Seamonster

SN in correct range, clean movement, screw heads very good, light scratching on the bridge

Nice catch.

What am I missing about thebezel? Hasn't it just roared slightly? It's a 2 minute job to straighten it.

I would not mind the bezel at all - it is correct for the Ed White and part of the history of this watch...

🥰

Really nice. That’d be a keeper for me.

Congratulations!

I’m sure the bezel is fine. We’ve all seen how the inserts in this era aren’t exactly the right size for the rings, and some portion always gets cut off. Usually, it’s off center in a different direction.

Yours is a little beyond these.

in the world of coin collectors, this bezel would be worth much more than all those others!

Congrats on the new Ed! I was in the running bidding online too. Glad to see it's here in the OF family now 👍

Looks like you got yourself a great deal mate. Check out that wrist cheese next to the chrono button, the previous owner must have really enjoyed using that function!

Isn't tritium should've been done by now? My explorer II from 1995 is not glowing anymore.

Tritium lume should glow briefly under UV simulus but won’t be really discernible in the dark when not excited like that. It may be different with Rolex, it usually is. Try a UV lamp on yours, you may be surprised.
