English auction house Gardiner Houlgate often has some good stuff at not crazy prices, so I keep an eye on their periodic speciality watch auctions such as the one that ran today.

Their posterboy watch for the sale was what to me looks like a nice -64 Ed White:

I have no idea if that blue bezel is a replacement or not, but the rest of it looks pretty convincing at least to these tired eyes.

Flat foot crown and what might even be original no 6 end links on the 7912 bracelet?

Hammered at £7,800, or a shade under £9,900 / $13,250 including fees. Did somebody get a bargain or am I missing something?

Looks like it was a good deal - But they do have a reputation for photos not telling the full story.
Endlinks are very clean, with no bends so I would want to look closely, but overall I think it looks a pretty good buy - not by me I might add.

I hope someone here got it, I'd love daylight photos of dial and bexel

That's a nice one, overall condition is fantastic for a 60 year old watch. The bezel looks like it has a blue hue to it which is cool as well.

Well, going by the sub reference 105.003-64 and serial no. 22081xxx, it is very likely correct to have a blueish DON. And looking at the overall package and price, I'm joining @Spacefruit in concluding this was a pretty good buy. And one I wouldn't have minded winning, but alas, I didn't even see it before the auction... Someone got a beautiful 'new' watch!

I did follow the auction, and had my Masterplan on this one!
There was one thing that held be back in the final battles, and it was the edges/bevels of the case....

I found a very interesting post here on the Forum regarding this, and it made me a bit unsure?

I have also compared to other 64 Speedys, and some "untouched" do have bevels, but who really knows...if they are untouched?
This one had been serviced a few times, and they might have added the bevels?

Anyway - it looked very very promising and honest, and the bracelet with the endlinks were a nice bonus.

Missed some pics....🥹

I noticed that too but it only looks like there is a bevel in this 1 photo. Maybe it's a trick of the light somehow. IMO 64's had no bevel and any that do were added after at service.

The case made me hesitate....It looks very nice, but the sides/bevels...could they have been adjusted, or is it the lights..?
I do hope that the buyer shows up here with some nice pictures!
