This isn't a recommendation and I have no relationship with the seller. I noticed this during my Ω searching and a number of little bells started ringing. I know as much about vintage Speedies as I do about nuclear physics, hence my questions to the educated/expert members. Would you like to critique this watch and provide your comments (good and bad). http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/VINTAGE-...097595?hash=item35f412293b:g:sv4AAOSw5VFWKHcZPurchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network It'll only be of general interest to me but may aid some other members to sharpen their spidey senses and add to their knowledge of the Vintage Speedmaster. PS: to all members who are Speedied out, just bear with it and treat it like a little quiz. Even the Speedie Ignorati can offer their input. EDIT: This seller currently has five other watches listed. All "Marriage Watches". But don't let this influence your analysis and assessment of the Speedmaster.
My guess is that someone will make him an offer and it will be removed fairly quickly - 6 bids already!! Oh dear! I guess you can draw your own conclusions why he seems to be able to post great photos of every other watch he lists but not this one!
It' strange that he can manage to take a crisp picture of the case back, but he can't manage a sharp picture of the movement or dial. It smells a bit fishy, and I'm not talking about the hippocampus.
I imagine that a few people are more than a bit frustrated that you've outed their eBay miracle find! It does seem odd that the "vintagetimewizard" forgot to mention in the title that it's speedmaster, let alone a 2915.
It's a fake. We've seen it before and will again. I was just coming to the forum to put up a warning.
It might be the crappy photo, but the Incabloc retaining spring only appears to be located on one side.
Looking at it with a photographer's eye it would appear that the photos posted (especially those of the movement) have been blurred in post production - hmmmm
+1 about photos : some really crispy (the meaning less about the watch) while other ones blurred (as the dial and the movement). Only the seller is not a fake wizard if making over K15 out of that crap !
This is also a head scratcher... "This watch will be sold as-is. If you are not satisfied it, please return for full refund." My understanding of "as-is" is that you don't get a refund.
Well for all the talk, it appears to be a 2915-1 case, no? I am the first to admit I am without much experience on this reference, but the case alone must be worth $10,000 to $15,000. The rest is, I agree, not worth much. Now I am quite prepared to be told I am wrong on the case - and if that is fake then indeed it is a pile of rubbish. I also agree the seller is behaving in a very dodgy manner. Del boy without the charm. Now even though I have a confirmed 2915 movement and hands, I am not going for this! (Too high IMHO)
