I’m going to guess most of these are not targeted hacks or phishing.

my guess is old accounts using pwned logins shared with other sites. Ie credentials from hacked websites in the past.

I highly suggest checking your email and passwords at

https://haveibeenpwned.com/
And

https://haveibeenpwned.com/Passwords

notice not all breaches expose passwords which is why the second part is important.

Just in case anybody is ever tempted to win one of these auctions (or even worse, click the links): don't. If you pay via paypal/ebay, then it takes a long time to refund you. I did a buy it now on a rare tuning fork watch and found out later that they stole pics from another auction site. I had to wait about a month until the watch was supposed to be delivered to file a claim. I have no idea why they bother with these scams because ebay acts like an escrow and won't release funds for new accounts. Perhaps that is why they are hacking verified/trusted accounts so that they can rapidly deposit funds with reduced or no waiting period.

Yes. It was @DoctorEvil
Yes, it's my avatar. Just downloaded the pic from the internet to match my OF username. That's all. Someone else can use the same pic as well because it's freely available. My Ebay user name is different to this person so it's definitely not me. Also, my Ebay profile doesn't have an avatar.
