Ok, was this a case of "shill" bidding or am I missing something? I know it's a transitional, raised logo '68, but $3359, including later 1171 bracelet just doesn't add up for me!
I hope your are spot on about the values on these '68 transitionals, but did you look at the bidding activity?
Not sure why you guys think $3359 is that high. Sure, it has the wrong DNN bezel, but everything else looked really nice, didn't it? Speedmaster101 (Spacefruit) would put it about $3300, $3500 for 'Good' condition... right, W?
The bidder who won controlled the bidding from $2500 to the winning bid with mostly automatic bids. If the bidder was a shill, I believe the winner would have exited at the last minute. If no payment is made and the watch reappears than the shill theory might be true.
Yes two bids over 3000 early on by inexperienced players. I doubt shills as one has taken delivery despite some hiccups with location and delivery. It wasn't overpriced.
Hi gentleman , I 'm new guy for this forum and also want to say thanks for useful info from speedmaster 101 . For info , I ' m the guy to grab this 68 , so it is not a shill. Even though it is not DON , but other condition is quite nice . Does It look a bit pricy for whole watch if added up with USD 300 for full service ( clean up , lubricate ,change main spring and some parts) ? what is your opinion Spacefruit ? All for forum information . : )
My opinion is that I was the underbidder! The service should be more than 300, in my opinion, but I am a perfectionist when it comes to movements. The bezel is not to my liking and I would have changed it. I think you have a good watch. Well done and welcome.
Yes , this is back from watch clinic . I have some photos for sharing to be information on forum in case somebody interest in this 68 transition.
Congrats mate and welcome to the site, I love how whenever we see a nice Moonwatch sell its either someone here or someone who soon will be.
