Watched this for a few days. Discussed with another member as well. Never saw this price coming for a 2913-8 with no bracelet and virtually no Bakelite on a bare bezel. I honestly thought that half of this winning bid was about where the market was. Guess not. Not anymore at least. An honest piece with, what appears to be, a nice original radium dial which matches the hands. I believe the 2913-8 is the last 2913 and, except for the caliber (501 vs 552) this reference looks identical to the next generation 14755. Movement number is correct. "thin arrow" minute hand and "dauphine" hour hand look original. Replacement crown and a polished case. https://www.ebay.com/itm/282351475272Purchases made through these links may earn this site a commission from the eBay Partner Network
Thats crazy. I've seen them with original bezels priced about the same. That said, I've never seen a 2913-8 for sale before.
True, the reference appears to be less prevalent than earlier 2913s. In researching the OP movement number there have been resales however.
Shizzle way over , It is a 2993 but the expensive ones have the bezel insert I like the look of it and for 25% of the bid maybe I would
Seamaster is the new Speedmaster. Looking at speedy prices, I am not actually surprised at this price. The dial is pretty stunning.
I was thinking that it will take more time before we see the speedy syndrome apply to the early seamaster 300 but the vintage watch market is going faster and faster... And it will Continue for sure... I paid a huge premium on this 14755 (I believed) hoping to get back the difference in 1 or 2 years if I have to sold it in the future but it sounds like It will be secured earlier than expected...
I stayed up until 1 am in the hope of snagging a bargain.... fail! It almost doubled in the last 15 seconds. Will we look back in 12-18 months and think what a bargain it was ???
Doesn't surprise me that the market has caught up. When people are paying 8K for a vanilla 145.012 and 15 K for a 105.003 why shouldn't a much harder to find 2913 be commanding similar if not higher prices?
OP offered me the watch via PayPal direct out of eBay for $8250 days before the sale ended. Decided to have a go at bidding. Guess I seriously miscalculated. On the bright side, that means I have more ammo for other interests... ♚ @TheSingaporeanWatchBaron ♚ (Instagram)
Well, I wonder how long it will be before we see 2913's from dealers with asking prices above 20K? Not that long I think
the dial was exceptional beautiful on this watch; I don't think these prices will be achieved for an average 2913 who knows - maybe this watch shows up on ebay again in 1 week because the buyer hasn't/could't pay.
The case itself is not good either. Its left down lug is bend. If you look carefully on the selling pictures, it shows on couples of them.
