No, I would not - I think the price is right, but might go more given the shortage

It looks like you just need to shut your eyes and get on with it if you need one these days!

Prices of these bezels are verging on becoming ludicrous.
I've sold two pre-moon speedies in the last 12 months that had much better bezels than this one.
A near mint 145 69 and a CB cased 105.012 for not a lot more each than this bezel is going to go for.

Is it just current excitement and a short term blip or will everyone be cringing in a few years when a decent DON is £2000/$3000. I guess they're not making anymore of them!

As said here, you gotta bite the bullet...!! 😲

It's amazing that (except for my .002), 4 years ago, I bought every one of my Speedmasters for less than what they are asking for one very average shape DON bezel these days...very very nutty! 🤨🤨

Power to those that can afford them today. Vintage Speedmasters are now long lost memories for me and will remain that way...

One of my old flames...$1,400.00 in 2011 - How much would the DON on this one go for?? 😎

I can't wait to see who will start the first "Vintage Romegalex Forum"? Both brands have gone down the trail where really crappy parts are changing hands for more than what a whole watch is worth.

Cheers,

A Rolex "kissing 4" Submariner insert, which is about as uncommon as the DON was getting upwards of $2500 last year...and a nice Heuer Autavia bezel will run you the same today...so honestly it just took longer than it should have for these to catch up.

Yep. The normal course of things in todays market...

They have become rich boys toys. Vintage watches, especially chronographs will become off limits for many in a hurry... if not already. I for one, cannot grow my collection without selling a kid, kidney or wife (the wife might be enough for a "meteorite" DON..😉)

Cheers,

Cheers,

My other half doesn't even know I bought the watch last week, so I won't be telling her i'm about to drop £1500 on a DON bezel for it! Boys and their toys!

I disagree...you just need to open up and look at other options. There is plenty out there that is affordable...and some pretty cool stuff too.

I was just being just being a little ironic 😉. I agree that you disagree. And I have opened up quite a while ago..

That's why I moved out of the vintage Rolex/Speedmasters game to focus on "other stuff". One can't deny that there has been a sizable spike in prices for vintage chronographs in general and I can say that they are much harder to find than even last year...Again, it all depends on what you're looking for. The Hodinkee syndrome seems to be having quite an effect!

Don't everyone shoot me down all at once, but this is pretty much insane. That said, fortunately I don't collect vintage Speedmasters! (I also don't see why a little red "SUBMARINER" line is worth an extra 3-5K).

You can buy a Hamilton Coronado for 2500-3000. 😁
