Dial is nice, but someone killed the caseback medallion:

    Dial looks ok
    Case slightly soft
    Medallion badly worn
    Rotor has been rubbing
    - so would need to check out what they mean by service
And it doesn't have a gold crown as per description
    Hope that helps

Thanks guys. I might pick it up for the right price. I would have it serviced. But... I would prefer the non-date version. Do those usually go for more? Admittedly I'm ignorant when it comes to connies.

I also prefer the non calendar version (cal. 551). I've never noticed much of a difference in price between the two, all other things being equal.

That's probably because nicer examples are pretty scarce regardless of whether there is a calendar or not. Most collectors aren't that picky about that function.

I wouldn't say that the non-date version (14381, cal. 551) is more costly and I'm not sure that's it rarer. It's worth waiting for a nice example, as these are, IMO, even better looking than the 14900/168.005 types due to the facetted bezel and beefier lugs. My own example is gold-capped, but would love a SS version!

    Here's a pie pan version non-date...

At it's current price I like the OPs watch. I think the case looks sharp except for the medallion, it has a nice dial too and at the right price it's a buy IMO. Having said that if the OP prefers a non-date, it would probably be best to wait for what he wants.

Having a bit of trouble with my phone so I can't seem to find the case size. What's the size in these? They look larger than what I'd expect. 38mm?

    Thanks.

There is a perfect arrow head crosshair pie pan in steel with gold furniture on ebay right now! I almost bent but bought up the creme brulee one from here instead.. But the one on ebay just has slight polishing and the guy is willing to deal a little...

You would think for that kind of money he could find a leather strap that fits.

Well he said he bought it new, and gave me a complete rundown of its history, he has only had it serviced one time 20 yrs ago.. So yea... A one owner. I think for the condition its in with a perfect dial and being such a desirable watch that the price is more than fair. It even is the original crown and buckle.

These large arrow head pie pans in this condition are just becoming hard to find and the price just keeps going up.

I'm deciding to wait for a non date version in SS with a pie-pan dial. I just wouldn't be happy in the long run. I like to rotate watches fairly often. I'll just add it to the list of watches I'm looking for.

Searching on ebay and other sites it does appear the non date version is harder to find..

As far as the lugs I'm still undecided which I prefer. Does anyone own both versions? Which wears larger?

    This?
