Agree @Dan S. I’m pretty sure the buyer has to return via the authenticator which adds seller protection.

There’s also a ‘void if removed’ tab the the watch (although this can easily be removed and replaced without damage if you have a spring at tool).

As noted, in the US and UK, above a certain value, eBay requires authentication. In the US, it is also optional (with a fee) for lower value watches. Frankly, while this thread shows that it can be problematic for the seller on a rare occasion, I think it is overwhelmingly to the seller's benefit. Once a watch has gone through authentication, it is extremely difficult for a buyer to play games, tamper with the watch, or try to return it based on false information.

You will always hear the bad stories, but for e dry one of those there are likely thousands of watches that pass through these people without incident. This forum is always going to biased against this system, but for the average modern watch buyer it gives them peace of mind that they aren’t going to end up with a fake.
