I have a Constellation which according to the serial number 18849xxx is probably circa 1961. Caliber is 561. The six digit number on the case back is 14393 4 which I believe is the ref. number.
Can anybody tell me what the indivdual numbers signify? I believe ref 14393 is fairly common but the last number preceded by a space differs on various models. I got the watch from a friend and it has an somewhat oxidized gold plated bead of rice bracelet.
I would appreciate info with regard to the meaning of each digit of the 14393 and then the 4.

No meaning the the individual digits on these 5 number references. Final number, 4 in your case is the fourth iteration or version of the reference.
