Hi
I couldn’t resist taking this duo of 1970s Geneve Dynamics home from a house clearance sale. It looked like the owners whole world was on show and I’m guessing these were bought as his and hers ‘cool’ back fifty years ago
So here is my question(s)
I would like to improve them with new crystals and possibly new straps and keep them together but although I really love the unique look there is a limit on my budget and one phone call to my restorer may have just blown it!
He quoted £300+ for a couple of glasses plus servicing etc Could be £700 or more
Now I know that the replacement involves puffing air into the crown barrel and I think I’m comfortable with this. But has anyone had success with this? Once off does the replacement fit easily? Finally where can I source a decent quality replacement?
And a last question-
The strap on the ladies is beyond redemption but the original blue branded one on the gents is still wearable and has responded to feeding but am I better buying a modern replacement and wrapping the original up as part of its provenance ?
After all of this and in great condition do I have £800 to £900 in value between them?
Not all about money but I guess it’s nice to stick to a sensible budget
Thanks for reading and any dynamic reading matter would be much appreciated
Cheers
