Dynamic chronograph

Hi. I have bought a Dynamic III Chronograph, which has been working fine up to yesterday, when the stopwatch function stopped working ?

The seconds sub dial moves fine and the watch keeps time, but the larger dial second hand only moves a fraction when pressing the start push button. The reset function seems to put it fully back to 12 o clock.

I did jolt the watch when trying to close a paint tin lid and I gave it a solid whack with the palm of my hand. Could that have done damage ?

Definitely needs servicing mate they all do eventually and it’ll come back in tip top shape

I think now it's nothing you can do yourself.. the watch has to go to an watchmaker. Hope you will solve it easy.

As others have said you probably haven't caused it but it does need servicing. Unfortunately this will come at a cost.
The Dynamic iii is a lovely watch IMHO and i have one too but it is a modular design and has a ETA 2890-A2 base movement with a piggy back Dubois-Depraz DD2030 chronograph movement added to supplement the time only function. (Similar to the Speedmaster reduced model).
Parts for the DD2030 are generally not around so normally the DD module is replaced with a new module.
For this reason you probably need to send it off for a factory service as opposed to a local watchmaker.

............................. as opposed to a local watchmaker.

Most local watchmakers won't touch them. Best course is send it to an Omega Service centre.

Steel yourself for a big bill. This is the big hidden downside of the piggyback or compound chronographs like these and the Speedy Reduced. Realistically you have no alternative other than sending it for a factory service, which will cost most of a thousand bucks or around £800 if you are in the civilised world. There are independents who will attempt repairs on these for (a lot) less, but there is basically zero access to parts for the chrono module outside of the factory network so there is a realistic chance it wont be a long lasting repair if you do go elsewhere.

Thanks for all the replies. I didn't pay a massive sum for it, so maybe need to stomach the service/repair cost at Omega. . It's a great looking watch.

Just FYI - the module is responsible for moving all the hands, not just the chronograph functions. There is just one pinion that comes up from the base movement to transmit power to the module, and the module does everything else.
