That looks fantastic 😀 Anymore info on it? My old man used to smoke Dunhill (before he quit) shame that there isn't a hint of burgundy/maroon somewhere in there with the gold like there ciggy packets used to have

That's pretty neat. Back when I was into pipe tobacco I owned a couple of Dunhill Amber root pipes. They were pretty easy to trade off, Dunhill pipes are a lot like Rolex watches.

I was hoping someone here could share some more info on this. It looks like only 100 of these were produced and this is 97 of 100 as shown on the bottom. I bought it at auction a few years back just becasue I thought it looked so cool. I actuall thought it was a manual wiind movement until I recieved it. I'm still ok with it being a quartz movement though. I do recall at some point seeing one on Ebay with the box. The box is really cool as well and sure wish I had that. Here is a link to one I just looked up on line but the silver version.

You are allowed to post links, but if you can post photos directly, that is even better, since linked pages can disappear.

Probably not, but the Dunhill name definitely commands some ridiculous prices. The pipes I owned I could probably have traded for a Speedmaster.
The one that sold at Christie's went for 107k HKD...
Off the back of that Google search there's a fair few of the 70s rollerstyle Dunhill lighters which seems to be going for £100s each! My old man had a draw full which my mother slung! Heartbreaking! One mans junk etc...🙁

I smoked Dunhill pipes and tobaccos for several years, I still have the pipes, stands, decorative ceramic jars- and a huge cellar of tinned tobaccos (it’s been a while since I’ve smoked them). They were the Rolls Royce of tobacco and lifestyle products- it wasn’t hype.

They made some of the smoothest smoking pipes I own and consistently outstanding tobaccos with blends going back to 1912 that were time capsules of changing tastes (smoking Durbar was like stepping back in time). Like coffee or wine, the nuances and details matter in the final product (origin of leaf and quality, soil, aging, blending etc) and they were the gold standard.
I had 3 blends I smoked daily- Early morning pipe with coffee, London Mixture or MM965 during the day and Durbar at night.
Sorry for the nostalgic detour- now back to clocks.

That is very cool I went to an antique “tag sale” I’m upstate New York. It was spread out on a couple acres. One gentleman had only Dunhill vintage items. The lighters were amazing along with humidors etc. I don’t recall one with a clock on it as it was several years back but it might have been worth it to pick one up as they were a couple hundred dollars but with the amount of bics and other lighters I lost it probably would have ended up in someone else’s pocket.

I remembered having a conversation with you about pipe tobaccos a while back and I had you pegged for a my mixture kind of guy. 😉

I regret doing it, but when I moved from Texas and had more or less quit smoking pipes I went through all of my mason jars of tobacco and tossed almost every single one. Probably 15 to 20 different jars, and a lot of the tobacco was well-aged. There was some early morning and 965 in there, along with a lot of McClelland blends and some other weird stuff. I still have some legends, wilderness, and W.Ø. Larsen but have only smoked once in the last 6 years or so I think.

If you still smoke pipes doesn't Peterson own all the Dunhill blends now?

It was really good shit. But London Mix had that extra level of orientals that made it so fragrant- so i tended to smoke that more. I went through all the $$$ modern blenders, every Frog Morton variant, flakes, plugs- you name it. I just wasn’t a pirate, I wasn’t a grizzled corn cob smoking farmer- I wasn’t a cut my plug on a hand made leather mat with my oiled beard and $2k work boots kind of guy- Dunhill blends were just easy and perfect out of the tin.
