    Hi all,

This is an open thread where I document my current and new vintage pieces that I find all over the world. In essence, they are classy, usually Swiss, and affordable.

Thought it would be good to share some pictures for vintage fans.

    1. The latest thing to arrive this morning after a long journey:

A 50s vintage Tissot in good running condition.

*Edit: thanks to Vitezi, an estimate of this Tissot points to its cal 27B-21 movement, dating back to 1958. Movement picture posted below in replies*

Triple signed, with an elegant Tissot signed crown (not a fan of modern Tissots signing 'T' only). Bit of chrome wearing off (or rust) on the case and lugs but otherwise brilliant. The strap has already been replaced since, a brown leather strap overtaking this flimsy black strap.

Moderate presence on the wrist. My ruler isn't near me, but i figure it should be at least 37 mm excluding crown.

Cool crown, little things that make me smile.

    More to come surely!

Nice watch! That's probably a mid- to late-1950s example. Tissot switched from their cursive logo like the one on your watch, to a sans-serif font with the -T- logo in 1960. Serial number production tables can be found online, so you can date yours a little better from the movement. Should be a variant on the caliber 27 from the 67xx reference family?

The serial number dates the movement to early 1958. Looks like you're running a cal 27B-21? It should say so under the balance wheel. That in-house caliber was produced by Tissot from 1950 to 1961 according to Fallet. The same caliber runs smoothly in this example from 1953:

Brilliant! Thanks very much for the information, and nice book on Tissot.
Loving that dial above, quirky but in a tasteful way (in my opinion at least, I like quirky things haha)

The only thing about my Tissot is as you've noticed, the chrome wearing off. Might visit my watchmaker to discuss any treatment; other than that I am scratching my head on how to prevent further degradation...

So is this like a stock preview of stuff you're about to sell?

It's not a sale thread, more of a discussion thread.

We'll continue this chat by PM in a bit (just busy at the moment doing something for a client) but to summarise, many journeyman dealers do the same thing, post threads exactly like you've been doing to drum up interest in their wares as an advertising strategy masquerading as community engagement. You're not the first to think of it, more like the 85th, and its something we take a quite dim view of ever since the first young man from the UK that became known for it.

One of the best typeface I've seen for a watch.

I am a huge fan of some of the other brands too.

    Glashutte is just classy

Understood, fair enough. Well, there won't be any commercial aspects to this thread, since it is only discussions. Is that still alright?
In any case I am well acquainted with the sales sections of this forum so I will use them accordingly once I have reached seniority.

This sounds a little like what a pimp might say when confronted by a police officer as he walks down the street showing off his 'ladies' :D

And I mean c'mon your avatar is already a 'commercial aspect'

Must be a rite of passage for new members in this forum to be subject to such harsh scrutiny...not a shred of evidence of me "dealing" and I am being judged because my avatar has the word "company" in it.

Don't bestow the honour of calling me a business yet, hell, I have neither partners nor worthy assets to even talk about :D:D Just a young chap (whose counterparts in my age group are foreign to this hobby) trying to "masquerade as community engagement":rolleyes::rolleyes:

I am getting coffee later to salvage the rest of the good bank holiday...

Your initial post in The Great Big Introduction thread did also leave the impression that sale has high priority. So I understand the concern :)

There is a golden rule in life, which is well worth learning young... if you don't want to be accused of doing something vaguely dickish... don't do something vaguely dickish.

You could have just signed up with your name...

Perhaps it's best to to sign up with a different username for personal use and not link your posts to your commercial interests. It'll make conversations here much more productive and enjoyable for all if they don't feel like they're talking to someone with ulterior motives and also probably free you up in your opinions without affecting your business.
