Tell that buyer he is wrong and trying to have you sell it for less. You have a desirable base 1000 DON bezel.

Your condition is lower grade than the one that sold from AUS so that will factor into pricing but someone who needs a base 1000 bezel will certainly want this at the right price.

Thank you. I also thought he was trying to knock down the price to even lower than what I told him. Do even an non DON 1000 bezels exist? I tried looking online after he told me and couldn't find any.

I mean price is specific between you and the buyer whatever is agreeable. There are a couple versions of the base 1000 where yours being the dot is just above the 90 and to the right and another where the dot is more clearly above the 90. Just google base 1000 Omega and you will see.

Known as A5 (dot next to 90) and A6 (dot over 90), or Style 1 and Style 2 in MWO.

George, I happen to be the potential buyer and I never said it wasn't desirable or valuable.

What I did say is that this is a style 1 base 1000 vs the Australia base 1000 which is style 2. The Style 2 is the DON bezel type that became the DON 500 bezel thereafter. The OP bezel is not the DON type bezel featured on all the subsequent Speedies of the 1960s. It is different at the 70 as well. The OP bezel is different from the Australia bezel.

As far a the sellers price, I simple said, compared to the Australia bezel (which sold for $10500) his offering price of $9500 was too high.

I advised the seller to look at page 120 on MWO and he would see the difference.

Besides the discuss of purchase my definition of dot over 90 is that the dot actually is raised above the numeric 90. The ones made from the 70's and on for the basic black Speedmaster Professional are next to and not above which is why I say it is a DON.

    I disagree.

On this style 1 bezel, (unlike style 2 and B1) the entire dot is not raised above the 90. On style 2 the dot clearly is above the 90. To me the 90 and dot on style 1 more closely (but not exactly), resembles the 90 and dot found on bezel B2- B6, the DNN bezels.

To me the dot is over the 90 numeric while all the rest of the DNN bezels are even level with the 90 and dont really go above as this one almost half the circle is above not completely but above. If you are talking about DOT completely over 90 yes but in my terms the dot is raised above the 90 for definition purposes is DON due to slight variations in production. These are my thoughts.

I must say to me the DO90/DN90 is relevant only with BASE500 bezels.

As to the values, I do agree that the OP bezel is enthusiastically priced - but someone might pay. And also, when selling, I was advised you can always come down, but very hard to go up.

Personally its hard for me to choose to use a bezel in this condition - but the thing is we dont have much choice in this market. All I can say is that I bought one in this condition about two years ago for $1200 and I thought I had over paid.

    Will this bubble ever end?

Hello, I didn't create the bubble, I'm just following supply and demand and my price is in line with what has been sold.

Sorry if I see a quality/price trend disconnect here. Perhaps the OP can better explain his "in line" price. Am I missing something?

A no reserve auction for the OP's piece sure would be interesting..

It's supply and demand. There's very little supply and it effects the price.

    I'm open to offers.

My price is well below the value the bezel adds to a watch. And someone who needs it, will buy it. I'm not forcing anyone to buy it.

Can you possibly show the bezel mounted on a Speedmaster, a side angle photo, and a photo flat on a smooth surface? It's important to know if, after being off a watch for many years, the bezel is not bent or damaged and can actually be mounted to a watch.

People, let's keep any discussions of value with the owner of the bezel off line in PMs. This is not a sale negotiation thread.
