Has anyone ever heard of a fake 1950's Omega automatic Seamaster "Bumper" cal 342 ...I think just bought one from reputable EU auction house.
All looked authentic in pic's (no movement pic) and description stated Omega Automatic Seamaster "bumper" cal 342 case 2578-3C 1950's
When it arrived I wanted to get serial number to date...opened it up screw back case and NO serial number .... everything else looked accurate..jewels screws..quality color of movement ant gears matched authentic photos I researched...Ive contacted the auction house but I am soooo disappointed...From the wear and grime of this watch it is older and Im wondering if the original owner also bought it as an authentic Omega...only thing is there are 2 jeweler markings on inside the back...they should have known...and the auction house "expert" should have noticed no serial number as he clearly took the back off to get the caliber and case numbers....From what Ive been researching all Omega's had serial numbers on the movements...so now I ask...has anyone ever known of an authentic Omega of that era not to have one?
Such a great ebay seller ffabri1969 from Leggiuno Italy... He's selling fake, knows it and is rude on top of that...

Here are some tips to help you avoid purchasing a fake vintage Omega.
Here's a classic fake Seamaster:
First, you won't find "antimagnetic" or a jewel count on the dial of any Seamaster. Second, that's one crappy movement. Omega copper plated their movements since the word Seamaster has been used on the dial. Third, Omega never put the hallmarks (like the Ω WATCH Co inside the triangle or the 18K 0.750) you see on this watch's caseback on the outside - they were always on the inside.

Here's another example in a different case:

Bottom line: ASK BEFORE YOU BUY! Part of the reason this forum exists is to help less experienced people buy decent vintage watches without getting ripped off. We don't even charge! It's a FREE service!
Hi Everyone! first post here, I have been looking at many of these posts and they are very helpful! At least there is a visual reference with many recurring elements of "fakeness". I always wanted to buy an Omega, the newer ones feel a bit bold for me, and I love vintage musical instruments so I figured that an older model would fit the passion (and the wallet).
I purchased this Omega today from truefacet.com (pics from the page so all credits to the photographer, not me)
I can return it within 7 days and the purchase is also backed by google etc. Anyway, i find that the movement might be from a different year compared to the case, but i could be easily wrong.
Also i have doubts about the back case and the "automatic chronograph originally certified"
All in all I paid 550$ which again I can get back if the watch does not meet expectations etc.
so... thanks in advance and thanks a million for all the time and info you guys put on these topics and passions.
I'm not sure how you asked a question without asking a question but props. That being said, if you read the title of this thread, you'll see it's not for questions. No one will make you feel better about your purchase unless you start a thread asking for assessment.
Thank you for the photos and avatar.
