I can at least give them a bit of a pass on the black dial, its the Tiffany blue redials, trying to ape off the Patek Tiffany Nautilus that are doing my head in because its so widespread now that 30 years from now people will think all these Tiffany blue dial Omegas were a real thing.

When I watched the show I immediately wanted to have one of those but then I learned here on OF that watch in the show was most likely a redial too. So it is the real deal, isn't it? 😁

It actually looks quite nice and, if I hadn’t been 'gaslighted' on OF, might have enjoyed it.

We’ve seen some of these sell for far more than a clean original silver dial would sell for- even with it clearly described as a “refinished dial”. We know these aren’t for the collectors- it’s for those that want a cool looking old watch that’s shiny.
Like herpes, I think we will be seeing these things pop up for years to come.

These sellers probably figured eBay out

When someone doesn't pay there's no punishment or action whatsoever, and half the winners don't pay

So the best strategy is to shill bid yourself to the moon and hope for the best

Interesting description of the dial, um, make up your mind, is it original or refinished?

Simple, it's a dial originally from the Omega factory that has been redone! 🙄

Sure but was it originally black ?

You just need to fix the verb tense:

Dial was Omega factory original. Black in color. Glossy finish!
Professionally redone. Looks very nice!

Not likely.

It does not say that it was originally black with a glossy finish. He used periods, not commas.

That's the sellers description, done with the intent to confuse the intended buyer. They've been doing it for years. Black redials sell for stupid money, it's become their specialty.

The intent to deceive is definitely there in the wording.

Indeed. If I were the seller, I would explicitly state that the dial was refinished. But since I'll be marketing this towards people who don't care about redials or fans of the show, I would lean even more heavily on the Don Draper connection.
