Does a meteorite dial patina?

my 2 cents...I don't think they will patina much if at all. I thought tropical dials were mainly due to the paint on the dials rather than the material the dials were made from (?). So unless there are some sort of paint on these meteorite dials, and the paint is the type that is susceptible to colour changes then I don't think it will happen.

Only Meteorite I've seen up close was a chunk of the Diablo Canyon meteor at the Adler Planetarium.
Its a very large fragment of hundreds of pounds, but represents a tiny fraction of the complete body.
The fragments were mined and used by local black smiths for generations. No telling how many horse shoes and scythes are rusting away in old barns that originated in outer space.

The surface of this meteor is old rust brown and craggy as you might expect, with deep saucer pits all over. There are also very deep tunnel like holes. I stuck my arm in one and of course scared my sister by pretending an space monster was eating my hand.

So these do rust over time but the oxidation of this one took many thousands of years.
