Guys, I have to share this one. My girlfriend has the thing for vintage watches. Could that be any better? She has Cartier Tank and few funky Casios and it turns out she always thought about collecting vintage pieces. And she said she wants to know every detail about my watches and stories behind them. It is first time I am not feeling guilty for my passion. Today I offered her to choose one of my watches. And she did! When I got that picture below after few hours (with a comment how much she enjoys it), it made me happiest man. Well, I think it will be much easier now to explain why I need another watch. Or no explanation needed anymore at all.. How many of you actually share watch collecting passion with their GFs, wives or partners? Do they want to wear your watches?
Nope. Mine couldn't care less about my toys. She is a one-watch person, and at least it's a classic reverso, so it could be worse, still. (plus it helps her not notice my addiction, I guess!) Lovely seiko that she wears very well. My bet is, you won't get it back anytime soon
...Nope ... my wive don't wear my watches, she wants to have their own .. but that is ok for me because I am collecting vintage speedmaster and she has no understanding that a watch could be not water resistant...
I asked the other day my business partner what is the date today. He snapped back. It is perfect you have a watch with mechanical thermometer on your hand. Have you heard about date watch? surprisingly, I dont mind her wearing my watch. I would say I would have same attitude as @efauser , but I really dont mind her running around with my watch. saying that... LIFE IS FOR SHARING (does not apply to my classic cars)
me: 6'1", 265# her: 5'3", 115# She couldn't wear my watches if she wanted to, which she does not. She has a tiny Rolex DateJust, about the size of a dime, and an Apple Watch. Where did I go wrong?
No, if she did they would become her watches, I am not sure why this happens but apparently anything she likes is hers anything she doesn t like I can keep it. If she, at any point, changes her mind rule one applies.
My girlfriend has one of my vintage Bulovas because the integrated bracelet was too small for me and she liked it.
Interesting how a 34mm watch in my mind is almost a unisex size. I did see a woman on an airplane last week wear a full sized Hulk green Sub.
My spouse would wear my rose gold Omega Jumbo (38 mm) if I made it more accessible to her. But she has favourites of her own which she usually wears.
She doesn’t touch my watches, just as I don’t touch her shoes Plus in any case she has a new Cartier, Omega Constellation, an antique JLC and a birth year Rolex...
I accidentally bought a small size Girard Perregaux this week (spontaneous eBay purchase) - it's a pretty little watch but no use to me at all - thankfully once I convinced my wife to try it on she refused to let me send it back so it's become an unintentional gift - of course now I need to buy myself something else to fill the void so its a very happy household!
