Interesting post -- current subscriptions to two local newspapers (feels like a political act) one digital newspaper (NYT) and a couple of paper zines: New Yorker, Food & Wine, Gourmet. Old enough to like the feeling of reading paper, and to be put off by too much digital consumption of print.

Of modern magzines I buy esquire when they have the big watch book issue (mostly in the holidays)

I do enjoy reading vintage watch advertisements
Unfortunately I dont have that many magzines and it's hard to come by.

According to the first picture here it says (translated)
"Swiss watches cost up to 75% less at our store than in other countries"
(Nivada netto prices)
Deutschland is 60-75% more expensive than our prices
Sweden is 40-45% more expensive than our prices
Switzerland is 20-25% more expensive than our prices

I tried in vain to purchase a magazine at the airport. National Geographic would have been the choice. Ended up watching King Kong vs Godzilla on the free American Airlines app.

Shame on me....

Only time that I ever pick up a magazine is when I am waiting at the doctor or dentist, normally something sports related- golf or football usually.

I get the New Yorker every week. It came in handy when everyone was hoarding toilet paper last year.

I’ve also had a subscription to Evo magazine since the early 2000s.

Reading a kindle or an iPad during my morning constitutional just never felt right.

My wife bought a pile of Saturday Evening Post and Life magazines (and others) for about the price of a new Robb Report or similar. Lots of fun to leaf through them while « watching » the many NCAA bowls. Some photos for your enjoyment…

And who remembers these opportunities? Sell items and get prizes. Including watches and guns!

Some cool Schwinns.

And who remembers when the back seat passengers were not required to wear seat belts? Back seats were safe. Some of you may even remember when seat belts were introduced. When did shoulder belts become standard?

And finally, give it up for this beautiful Cadillac…

Great ads. I’d love to have one for my ‘61 Seamaster and my wife’s ‘39 Bulova “Ben Hur”.

the Cooper ad is funny. It’s tires that keep your kids safe, no need for seatbelts.

l just subscribed to Fine Woodworking. Still waiting for the first issue to arrive, but the online catalog is outstanding.

When I'm at an airport I always pick up an issue of The Economist, or Outside.

Many magazines have folded over the last couple of years. I used to like my motorcycle mags, but they are all gone. Used to like The Wine Spectator, but don't like the direction they went; wife and I found a better option for scoring top wines (mostly French) without all the hype and high prices. So I do my reading online now. About the only worthwhile paper publication I get is the annual catalog from MusicDirect in Chicago....300 glossy pages of audio gear and vinyl/SACDs, all expertly photographed. You can see and order all of the stuff online from them, but it's nice to have a physical copy you can peruse.

Bikepacking and Bicycle Quarterly, both indie publications...

used to enjoy Playboy, GQ, Modern Drummer, Musician Magazine, National Geographic and Vanity Fair in paper/print form but those days seem to have gone the way of the dodo.
