My recently acquired connies keeps very accurate time .., do i need to get them overhauled ? is it required.. Dont want to mess them up unnecessarily... Any Suggestions Greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
When were they last serviced? Are the oils a congelaed glob? Do you want to keep those expensive items in top saleable condition? You spent a shitload on them, cough up for a few hundred to clean, oil adjust. A watch with service provenance will always outsell an equal with no history.
I think you're far more likely to "mess them up unnecessarily" by failing to properly service them. . .
Not trying to save money not sure if I can find trust worthy watchmaker near by also shipping them will not be easy .,, and also omega service center near by has worst reviews ... Hence the question
6 weeks is about on par for a well reputed watch maker in my experience. I've currently waited 8 weeks to get a waffle Seamaster and a Geneve Dynamic to the front of the queue for a highly regarded one in the UK. It's a worthwhile wait and investment for watches of the quality that you have. Just wear them sparingly in the mean time.
i understand, leaving my other watches for 6 weeks is fine... but i dont want to leave my connies for that long.
Understand that a few hundred bucks isn't a problem. But every time you look at one of those beauties there will be that slight doubt, is it going to fail or not? Better to take some time and find the right watchmaker, and then brace yourself for the long wait. As the old saying goes, absence makes the heart grow fonder, you'll love them when they come back all clean and running like a Swiss watch (sorry about the pun). Cheers Jim
It's really your fault for not getting two identical luxes.... Now you need an exact twin for each, so you can send your original pair to the watchmaker without missing anything. Start searching...
I learnt to do the job myself (from a 30mm to a 564) to save money and have lots of fun. Things that I am not able to work on ? I simply don't own them (like the 321...)
Looks like not a viable option for most of us........ This is something I would like to do after retirement though....
I think it is a good idea anyways I may need a donors ... But nit sure if I can get a 354 ... 505 should be relatively easy
I don't think you need to stock a 354 or a 505. They share lots of interchangeable parts and in case you need one, the watchmaker can get it for you (Kyle did the same in this thread http://forums.watchuseek.com/f20/question-about-omega-bumpers-446665.html )
