Discoloration on Apollo 8 Speedmaster Bezel markings

Hello all, I’ve had my speedmaster apollo 8 for about a year now and have noticed that the tachymeter bezel markings have discolored to a more yellow/orange. In the dark I’ve also noticed that the lume is less prominent. I’ve tried cleaning with dish soap and a toothbrush without any improvement. Any other ideas before trying to get Omega to clean/fix it as part of the warranty?

I don't have an answer for you, only that I'm interested in what you find as I'm hot on the trail for my own Apollo 8.

Looks not unattractive though, imho. The vintage Speedy crowd love that sort of thing. Just my 2c!

That ain't right, my 2 1/2 year old Apollo 8's ceramic bezel numbers are as clean and white as when I got it. I would take your watch to an OB and have them start a warranty repair. In my view that is very unattractive, looks like yellowed teeth from smoking.

I have one too, which still looks brand new . . . . but I wear it infrequently. Are you wearing this daily ?

I'm interested to see the outcome. Good luck.

I've only had mine for a few months, but no change here. Can you take another picture in outside lighting? The color seems off on the hour markers and dial text too and it almost looks more light bad lighting than discoloration. That said, the bezel colors are the worst in that photo.

If you have it replaced under warranty, does Omega keep the original or send it back to you? What if you change your mind down the line, will you be able to put back the original?

Thanks, will take in to Omega. Not daily. I think I've only worn it 40-50x. The rest of it looks like it is in pristine condition/

Is the bezel removable like on the other Speedmaster models? Looks like on the Ceramic models it is part of the case. Worried if I get the case replaced under warranty the serial number won't match the movement anymore and it will affect the value of the watch?

Yeah for sure, will file a warranty claim.

Have you tried using a pencil eraser to clean it?

As it’s distributed forwards the outside my guess is that it is skin oil build up and should be removable.

Id also try simple green and a que tip to try and remove it.

bezel is it’s own part, it’s not integrated.

Ever found out what the problem was? Or anyone else encountered it? I'm having the same issue although only with the crown so far, would be interested in a fix

OP hasn't been back in almost a year, so you might not get the answer to your question.
