Mine has a plain rear cover, but is (I hope) correctly marked on the inner face. I've never been sure as to why there's no WWW markings on the outer face (?) 30T2InsRearCov2.jpg

Hi Davy, I have the same situation, haven’t bought the watch yet? Did you find out why theres no www marking?
The seller assumed that it was removed/ hard polished/ sand blasted by one of the previous owners.

The inner caseback looks convincing though

Correct omega WWW dials should have a flat top “A”, pointy top is incorrect.

Yes, it has the flat top “A”. I would like to know why theres no WWW engraving on the caseback, but the inner caseback has all the correct marking

Oops I didn’t look at the dates, I thought the whole thread was new and I’d spotted a pointy A higher up.

Have you got a way to accurately weigh it, or measure the thickness of the caseback. That way we could check if it’s been skimmed as I have one that we could compare against.

Edit. The slots indicate it could have been skimmed. The majority of my slot is on the sloping part of the CB, whereas the majority of your slot is on the flat part. That suggests material has been removed from the flat part of the CB.

I haven’t weigh or measure it yet, how much shoud it weigh and how thick? Then maybe I can use the number to compare..

So it is possible that the www is engraved then. Have you seen other dirty dozen watches without the engraved because its been skimmed?
    Thanks

I’ve seen plenty of issued watches that have been skimmed. I even have a Record WWW that was skimmed on the outside and milled on the inside !

I've had mine for nearly 30 years and the lack of markings has only occasionally caused me any concern at all. At this point I can't see any chance of establishing the cause, but I believe everything else about the watch suggests it's completely genuine. I think it unlikely that my caseback has been subject to any kind of machining to remove the original stamping/engraving. It may be that the external face marking was just overlooked during production, (I worked with car makers all my life and the incidence of things like that is higher than many might imagine). I like everything about it, especially the aesthetics, and whether or not its value is affected by the plain case back doesn't matter at all to me.

aka - I just noticed, looking at our respective pics of movements, that yours appears to have (but it could be the angle at which the pic was taken) a different crown from mine, which is slightly domed - just for your information, no big deal.
