I need to justify to myself why something cost what it does

That is the operative issue, "to myself," because it's very difficult to justify a high-grade watch purchase to anyone other than a watch person.

And by the way, thank you for your service.

Watches are pretty easy too - Constellations (with one notable exception)
The hunt and anticipation is a huge part of the fun of collecting but the joy of owning and wearing never dulls for me
One good move is to live abroad and leave half of your most prized possessions at home
It's like having a whole new set of watches all over again to enjoy for the first time
Same applies to Mrs Peemacgee 😉
Two days and counting...

A perfect end of year thread as we all re-examine our collection habit. To quote one of my favorite author, William Gibson on a so called "grail" watch:

"I was looking for one (grail watch), or a few, and I suppose I did find them, but I had to learn to recognize them, which isn’t always that immediate. Watches that can seem “the one” on opening the package need to be worn, understood."

Great article. I love his that his grail watch is a Franken PVD Destro 5513 Submariner. It doesn't matter that most people would think it's garbage. I hope such a watch becomes the only thing I want to wear come the weekend.

Do I really look like a guy with a plan? You know what I am? I'm a dog chasing cars. I wouldn't know what to do with one if I caught it! You know, I just... *do* things.

Above quote describes me as a watch collector.
