Gifted my dad a .005 speedy earlier this year [had some issues with losing time (several minutes a day; posted in a previous thread) but sent in and serviced and is working fine].

For my 4 year old who is learning these days how to tell time. He has been very curious about my watches lately and wants to copy his dad. Have a feeling he will have a taste for blood just like his ol man.

I helped my brother in gifting this 40’s omega (previously belonging to @CdnWatchDoc, and I believe @X350 XJR before that) to my sister-in-law.

She had taken an interest in vintage watches, especially after I bought a stunning 145.007 Chronostop from @padders for my brother for his 21st last summer. About a month or so ago I pointed her to the sales forum, and she fell in love with this little omega. She was deadset on coming up with the money for it herself, but we scooped it up before she could... she was devastated when she saw it was sold! It’s all she’s talked about since november... she’s in love with it. Glad the OF could be a part of our Christmas.

Great thread idea! I love giving watch gifts!

Earlier this year one of my best buds got married. The couple lives a, um, herbal lifestyle. So for their wedding gift, I got them matching Omega cal 420s :D

Also this year, my girlfriend graduated from Baylor College of Medicine. So I got her this Baylor medical watch that I whiffed on three years ago and searched for ever since, found it at an estate sale three months before she graduated:

Before this year, I gave my mom my first ever vintage watch. A cal 265 that I got for $200 from on eBay from someone who posted just two blurry, zoomed out pictures. eBay ain't the same these days!

My other buddy lives in Moscow and married a Russian lady three years ago. He is also a pilot and loves flying on the weekends. Big history nut too. I got them these matching Poljot flight watches:

Have gotten Seikos and Orients for other friends' weddings as well, and gave my dad the green and gold Seiko Alpinist since he loves jade and gold from his Chinese roots

Couldn’t strap it on for the photo so the leather didn’t bend before we gave it to him... even though I wore it on a strap of my own for a little just because I couldn’t resist.

I would love to gift a watch but it's unlucky in my culture!

Tracked down someone selling a few "cheap", "old" watches ; you know the ones that need batteries , and had my little bro snag the only 2 worth Wild from the cat. Screenshot_20181229-030545.jpg 20181223_195023.jpg Felt obligated to give one to my brother for Christmas. So we both got our first Zeniths at the same time.

Can you share any more details? What culture? Why is the gift of a watch considered unlucky? Are other similar gifts okay that are an interesting contrast?

My 11 year old daughter received a Dynamic from Santa. I love the 60s vibe of those and she's thrilled with it.

I gifted my son a 69 Speedy 220 this year. Technically I’m holding on to it for him :whistling:

I gifted a watch this year. To my son. And I'm NOT providing pictures.

Oh, the shame of giving an... an... an... Apple Watch! Where oh where did I go wrong with the boy?? Kids these days! :)

I’m also gifting a new Seiko Presage to my son in law in Asheville for Christmas
( when I see them in January)...
I’m curious to see how he does w this watch before I gift him a vintage watch that’ll need a bit more TLC.

I offered my wife to buy her an Omega to Christmas... she told me she don’t want an expensive watch but we could have a look to the next store. Image, she select a 100€ Chinese Quarz watch. ???!

The watch may not be a keeper- but no doubt she is. Nice.
