Yes. Common to see the angled brushing on -69.

Considering all the input here, I think that there were two 'common' case versions for the -69.

At least my own watches have a different shape of the case and are brushed 'normally'.

And as I see it, the angled brushing version has the shape like / similar to the -67 / -68 models.

So there's no contradiction.

Here are two 145.022-69 that are less than 200 serial numbers apart.
Both with the same angled brushing.

Yes. And both with the earlier (higher flank) cases. No contradiction to what I think IMO.

Beautiful watches! Thanks for the pictures! 😀

Yes, there are two types of case profiles. Both case types were made by HF.
You start seeing both types on the same reference around 1969 with the 145.022-68 "Transtional" model

Type 1:

Type 2:

Stunning beauties!

Is there an angled brushing on the 'higher flank' case as well? Seems to be horizontally?

It’s horizontal.
I’ve only encountered the angled brushing on 145.022-69s so far.

Very interesting thread chaps! I've just taken a loupe to my Dad's old 1965 Speedmaster and the brush marks are clearly horizontal including between the crown and pushers. Is that good on a 105.012-65? 😕

Well that's nice to know Winston. Thankyou for that. 👍

I can't imagine for one moment that my old Dad would have had it polished. It's not a "Safe Queen" He wore it everyday from the 1960's until he left it to me in 2003. When I took it in to Swiss Time Services, in 2016, and handed it over to Simon Freese for service, the agreement was that it should be cleaned but not polished. I will try to keep it that way.

Wow, I was out for 2 hours and wouldn’t have expected so many replies to this thread. Always amazing to see that you can learn something new even on models well documented as the -69. Thanks for all the input here.

I may point out that my -69 with the horizontal brushing that I shared earlier is infact a straight writing model produced in -71 according to the extract.

Cheers,

Max

Sounds like a great deal @eugeneandresson.👍 What percentage will that 5k be as a deposit? 😕 The black ones are $12500 now on Speedmaster101😁

Was pulling your leg in a way that was saying ‘all good’ but realized it might not be taken that way, so removed my comment 😀 If 69’s with brown dials are almost 1.5~2x their black dialed brethren, then a 105.012 must be similar no?

I was fine with it @eugeneandresson . As you know, I like a bit of piss taking. 😀

I like the sound of the 1.5 to 2x idea,🥰.... but I think $18,750 to $23,000 for a Brown dial, 105.012-65 might be pushing things a bit at the moment.😲 I don't think anyone (outside of Chrono24) are looking for prices approaching those dizzy heights yet. Even with original horizontal brush strokes on the case.😁
