Hey guys just got this JLC from the german equivalent of craigslist for 290 Euros

I suppose its a 40's military style JLC - if original.

Im not too sure about the hands. I think the lume is missing. I wonder if this is a big issue for the price?
i am also wondering if there is a chance to get "new" old radium hands?

Thank you for your insights

all the best from snowy munich

I found this that shows a 269xxx serial is from approximately 1943. Yours is much higher but not sure where that puts it

The movement appears to say P478, which would apparently be the caliber. It looks to have an interesting shock protection design. Late 40s IMO.

I think that you did well, particularly if that is a stainless steel case rather than a plated one. The hour and minute hands are original in my opinion but not so sure about the seconds hand. Dial looks original to me too but I am not hugely knowledgable about them and the pic isn't great. The lume looks grotty and touched up on the dial, I would be tempted to have it relumed by an expert along with the hands.

on close inspection it looks like the seconds hand has been painted red. I think the lume from the hour and minute hands has gone.
However, i just found these replacement hands on ebay:

does any of you guys know it its an easy feat to change the hands?

Cheers

I was looking at the arm attached to the balance cock, which appears to have a open circle at the end that should probably be centered on the jewel. I think it's out of adjustment. Hopefully some of the experts will show up, since I'm not too familiar with this movement.

I don't think those hands will fit your watch

Is it a stainless steel case?

You don't need new hands. You will be better off just getting the existing hands re-lumed.

Value as for most watches comes down to the dial, which we would need much better photos to evaluate.

little afraid it will end up like this JLC with a sort of greenish touch:

do you know if there is an option for more "natural" looking lume?

video for reference:

P.S. go check it out its awesome

Looks like all the hands are original to me but probably not the paint on the seconds hand. For 290 euros I would say if it's running well it's a very good deal in a s/s case, even with a slightly tatty dial. With new lume on hands and dial it could look pretty nice.

You just need to find someone who knows how to mix pigments to do color matching.
